I wonder if someone has purchased that corner property?
Ding ding ding....we have a winner. I stated on here years ago about the upcoming changes to the Halton/Congaree Rd area. Look for more restaurants to close in that area and for more medical/professional to replace the restaurants. Greenville County is about to have a massive presence on Halton which is one of the big catalyst for this change.
True. K&W was pretty good though and always busy at Lunch and Dinner. It was there for at least 25 years.
The location was always a little odd to me. Kind of tucked away between Haywood and Woodruff instead of being directly on a major street or in a shopping center I often did not think of it.
Very disappointed the K&W has closed. Good cafeteria style food. Always seemed to do a good business. Perhaps property sold for redevelopment as speculated. But wish they would relocate. How does S&S compare? And is there a cafeteria in Spartanburg County? Always enjoyed K&W in NC as well.

In Spartanburg the only cafeteria I remember is Piccadilly which closed a few years ago. I went there occasionally, but more for nostalgia since I grew up eating there in Baton Rouge back in the 70s and 80s. There are still 5 in the Atlanta area and 5 in Baton Rouge among others, but nothing closer than Atlanta.
I always thought it was much better than K&W or S&S.
I just spoke to the owner of K&W and he explained they could never fully recover from the effects of the virus and was forced to close their doors. It was a pretty short conversation.

We used to visit the S&S a good bit until a couple of years ago. We thought we would give it another try right before the virus hit. The food was so salty that we couldn't eat it.

Very sorry to hear this. I wonder if they owned their building or paid rent for the property? That could have been a factor as well. I wish they would reconsider and relocate after the pandemic subsides, as previously they seemed to have a solid business. And they historically have performed well in most other Carolinas locations.

Piccadilly also acquired former Morrison's locations a number of years ago. But not in Greenville I don't think. But I had forgotten about their previous original location in Spartanburg. Wish it was still there.

I believe Piccadilly was in Westgate back in the 70s/80's before they relocated to the freestanding location down the road.

Yes It has to be something else. Wonder if they lost their lease or property was sold as previously mentioned. The Myrtle Beach locations and all of the locations in N.C. are still open. The virus apparently didn't hurt them.
Also wish they would bring back Boston Market as a healthier fast food option other than burgers and fries. Closest locations may be Asheville and Charlotte.
