Each side probably needs to start looking at that middle ground rather than standing their own ground, completely apart.

And.. That guy in Seattle was doing it to prove a point.. Not because (or at least, not ONLY because) he is a freak or something. But.. He did make the point. It can, and will, happen for real.

Important to remember also is that these laws apply to public buildings. It does nothing to stop private businesses from having whatever policy, pro or con, they like.

Personally.. So far as a bathroom.. In todays world.. Who cares? A woman walks into a mens room, or a guy walks into a womens room.. It's not like there's a toilet in the middle of the floor. There's partitions even between urinals in the mens room. A LOCKER ROOM, however, is a totally different story.

So, while right now, a man hanging around in the womens restroom would get the cops called and they would legally be able to come in and remove them.. If people are allowed to 'gender identify', then the cops will not respond, and if they do, will not be able to do anything to remove them.

Don't think that would happen?

But someone can't just hang out in a bathroom. It doesn't matter if it is a man or a woman, the property owner can ask them to leave because of loitering. You make it sound like they can bring a chair and magazine to chill in the bathroom.

Technically, the way the law works now condones this scenario. If a woman who looks like a man or identifies as a man (for even more clarity, looks like Mike Tyson) yet on her birth certificate it says woman, she can lawfully loiter around a woman's bathroom. It is absolutely lawful and ruled that her new "manly self" be required to use the women's restroom. Now do you see the conundrum? This would seem much more dangerous than the proposed law SINCE our wonderful representative of Spartanburg is looking at public safety.

But this law has nothing to do with private businesses. Only public buildings. So, there is no 'property owner'.

Sure someone can hang out in a bathroom/locker room. Unless they were obvious, most people are in and out of the bathroom in a few minutes. Unless you go in the same one multiple times during a day and always see the same person in there.. How would you really know they were loitering?

If it were a locker room or something.. What's the difference between loitering and taking a really, really, really long time to get dressed?
