Saw a report last night that Sheetz, based in PA, has set a goal of 1000 stores to open. They have almost 700 now in PA, OH, VA and NC. They are opening one in MI soon. It would seem natural to move to the SC one day.
Looks like they have what Food and Wine Magazine calls “the best fast-food fried chicken...”!
Need to keep QT on their toes. Competition is good.

Agreed. With this area growing so fast I would imagine several convenience store chains are looking to enter this market but here is the thing they would need a lot of locations to knock a dent into Spinx and QT's market share in Greenville and the upstate now. One or two will not cut it. At this point no need for either one of them to worry about Royal Farms or any other newcomer with one or two stores.
Never heard of them but looks like they just opened a store in Wilson NC. Guess they are trying to move into the Carolina's. Good luck up against QT.
Royal Farms:
Based in Baltimore, they are well established in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania where they compete with Wawa and Sheetz. They are known for the best c-store fried chicken and recently expanded into eastern NC. Interesting they are making the move down to SC, but the Pelham developer apparently handles their real estate acquisitions in the Mid Atlantic region. Excited to see them coming.
Also Wawa is expanding in eastern NC along the I-95 corridor and coastal regions. Will they possibly move west to the Upstate and finally compete with QT? Time will tell.

Either WaWa or Sheetz would find friendly consumers here in the Upstate. Both companies are run well, privately ran btw, with members of both families sitting on both boards, both are similar in what they offer. They have a fierce rivalry among their customers.
Now Wawa is a different story. That is the best C-store chain I know of. Their food and coffee are top notch. Wawa would do some damage to other competitors. They jumped to Florida first and are now backfilling in the Carolinas and Georgia.
