Word on the street is that Halton Road Grill is struggling since the separation from Backyard Burgers and may be in danger of closing. This is unfortunate, as I have always liked the food, but it's tough to succeed when you're a lone wolf in a very competitive market. I wish the owner(s) well.
I work across the street and can confirm...as of this week Halton Road Grill is closed.
On a whim, I decided to visit the new Panaderia La Estrella / Tacos & Tamales Saturday on NE Main St in Simpsonville ( across from the Post Office, in the old Pasta House location ) The bakery items I purchased to go, were phenomenal! The lunch and dinner menu are next on my list of items to try
Anybody mention yet that Bojangles is coming to Harrison Bridge and 385 next to the new QT in Simpsonville.
Not surprising as Bojangle's is performing well and continues to strategically expand. Their newer restaurants are nice and seem to be good quality.
But I would still like to see a Popeyes come to the area, as their chicken is a bit spicier. But they are getting closer with a new store reportedly under development in Gaffney.

Im with you. Thinking back, Bojangles recipe seemed much spicier in the early '80's. It was at that point I moved to the Lowcountry and got a taste of Popeyes chicken at Rivers and Remount

Yes, I believe you could be right. Yet, my children can tell that Bojangles chicken is indeed spicy and hot even without the addition of the delicious hot sauce.

Somewhere around 2000 or so, they combined their "Southern Style" and "Spicy" chicken into what they have now.. Which is more towards the "Southern Style" than the spicy.
I understand why they did it.. Same general reason that it would be smarter for KFC to go to one style of chicken vs the 3 that they have now... Less waste... But, I would have preferred they kept the spicy and ditched the 'mild'.
Speaking of Bojangles...sold sign says future home of Bojangles on the empty lot of Wade Hampton Blvd (rt29) intersection with Tyger Lake Rd, across from the Exxon gas station on same side of Wade Hampton. This is right next to the i85 / Wade Hampton interchange (i85 mm66) between Lyman and Spartanburgs West Gate Mall. Don't know how long sold sign has been up...noticed while at the light today. No construction yet. Empty lot has been for sale for a long time.

It appears the new restaurant is in Spartanburg, not Greenville. I think it will be franchised by Chix and Bix LLC.
