Sad. The original Danno died at age 72.

I thought he had sold his (Kalakaua Ave.) condo back in 2005 but that was someone else on the same floor. It seems his condo is still in the family (FAMILY MACARTHUR TRUST) but he may have not lived there recently if he died in Florida. Nowadays, 72 isn't as old as it used to be so that's a bit surprising...and sudden since I don't recall hearing about him having any serious illness.

Yes, it's the end of an era as of his passing...

I think the show was not really written for locals, but for mainlanders.

I can't believe they said "flip flops" instead of "slippers." What?!

For the sake of Hawaii's economy, I hope the show lasts. What can you do? We love Hawaii!

I'm also 72, still working full-time. And yes, 72 isn't as old as it used to be. He was 6 months older than I.
Mr. MacArthur was one of the few stars in the old H50 that would talk to the crew, extras, and cops. I was an extra in many episodes both as a civilian in the earlier shows and as a cop in later episodes. Another actor that mingled with us was Zulu. Jack Lord never would talk to us and actually was a PITA. Hardly anyone liked him.
I was a big fan of Mr. MacArthur starting with one of my favorites, Swiss Family Robinson. Sad to hear he passed. And from "natural causes." Whatever that means.
Eddie

I can tell you why they were refered to as "flip flops" When filming they used "slippers" but in final editing the producers had the change made for "mainland viewrs because the word slippers usually is taken to mean dress type shoes and flip flops are what the mainland calls slippers. Saw that on Hawaii News Now.

EdLo,

Jack was also that way (aloof, not social) at his condo...ask his neighbors!

I can't explain his aloofness on the set but at home in private life, maybe just he and Marie was all he really wanted...or needed. Still, he didn't socialize with his neighbors there at Kahala (didn't invite anyone over or accept such invitations) which I think he COULD have done at least occasionally and still have plenty of privacy the rest of the time.

Hey...got your badge?

Why is it that they need to pronounce Honolulu "Hahn-no-lulu" instead of "Ho-no-lulu" as locals do? Boo... I enjoy the show anyway though. It's like a huge infomercial for the state of Hawaii even if there are things they compromise on.

I actually think Grace Park as Kono has been the most convincing character of the cast. I've been impressed with her acting so far.

I wish they had used Jason Scott Lee in a good guy role so that he could be around longer. He's a decent acting talent raised in Hawaii.
