You sure move fast. I hope you have a good time and let us know how you liked your trip to Hawaii. When I rent cars in Hawaii I wait til I get there and at the airport I look in the phone book for the company that is not a well known brand. They usually have the best price and are the nicest. It has always worked out for me, but you sound like you are a planner and need to organize in advance. Good luck!
do you know what's the best/cheap rent car agency in Hawaii?
thanks for your suggest
have a good day
I found advantage to give me a great rate - I have to rent a car for about a month this July until I purchase my own, and their rates were great for me.
Also do note that many companies now allow you to prepay for a car rental (e.g., up front) but also give you some good savings. It's a great option but do know you generally can't change the terms of your contract (e.g., extend a day or bring it back early for a refund).
Though none of the Big Island people passed it on, there are some great tea companies and a winery on the Big Island, on the way South from Hilo. I would highly recommend picking up some great local teas and wines. Again, you can get these at the Farmer's Market, but nothing beats a trip up to Big Island Teas. If you like teas, that is!
At the winery, they had to blast/auger through the lava in order to plant the vineyards, pretty neat stop
Also, there is seriously no reason to not take an hour drive up the Hamakua coast from Hilo. Hell, at least make it to Onomea bay if not all the way up to the Waipi'o. Seriously, if you're coming to the island, you don't want to cram everything in, but if you're going to be around Hilo, take an hour to drive north (and an hour south again) and then head down south towards Volcano/Puna/etc, rounding out towards Kona again. Your call, but definitely worth your time to check out the Hilo north area!
Aloha! And hi there again. Time sure passes fast! Here you are already!

The answer may be different for the four islands you said you wanted to visit, and/or the airports you chose. Can you share your itinerary with us? If so, we can give you more specific advice.

Again I found Advantage to be the best for fares on BI. But also, as I said, some car rental places will let you prepay for even bigger discount. It's an option you can choose if they offer it and you can afford it now.
