Well, I completely admit that I have no idea what the nani references are. I've never heard it in context of this conversation. I have FRIENDS named Nani, but I feel we would both be offended at the use of "nani".
And not to be rude of dismissive, but I'm pretty sure dating has change here since 45 years ago....

Look up nani. It just means pretty, nice or gorgeous, depending on context.
I know this. I live in Hawaii in the present day HBH, and I don't live Hawaii via YouTube videos or what I think is going on based on experience 20+ years ago. I'm in the present day and not out of touch with Hawaii reality.
