Just had a lunch out while traveling and the waitress came up to the table with no mask.
I asked if they weren't wearing masks there. She said she had a Dr note that she did not have to wear a mask.
How would you handle that?
For the record I was not comfortable having her that close, chatting and no mask.
I had mine off because that has been my counties recommendation, masks until you reach the table
and then off while you eat..
Depends. Is it a tiny town way out in BFE or a hot spot? My husband has breathing issues so I might have left which is my choice.
Putting a mask on, unless it is a medical grade N95, won’t protect you. It is meant to protect others if you cough or sneeze. That waitress was not protecting others. My dtr works for the CDC, Covid division
I’d walkout-wondering if she washes her hands after using the bathroom
Also just talking & breathing spreads tiny particles of fluid...
Leave with a brief stop on the way out to tell the manager why.
I would not ask to be moved for a different server area because for all you know, there are kitchen staff who are also declining to wear masks. Not worth the risk of eating anything in a place that would permit any food service employee to go without a mask
I'd either ask to be given another waitress OR probably better yet, leave altogether. I don't HAVE to eat at any restaurant that badly. I can find food anywhere & I personally haven't dined-in anywhere in the last 7 mos & probably won't anytime soon...only takeout.
When she sees that she's losing out on tips, she may change her tune.

.
I am thinking of not dining out anymore..Can't tell you how many times I have had no maskers trap me in a small restroom and I have to go past them to get out...No mask employees and being seated very close.
I am done with eating out...

When her employer sees a further drop in revenue her tune may change, too.
Dr. Hansen is a pulmonologist who treats COVID-19. Snarky, but informative. Go to 10:15 to a discussion of masks and COPD.

I think that's a great idea. Stay home if this stuff bothers you so much.

Not eating out doesn't mean staying home.
I am outside most of the day enjoying sports with plenty of physical distancing.
Not eating out is no big deal to me & better on the budget.
