Gentle arts - good work and I love a group like that.
Gigi - so important, buttonholes. It opens up another world.
My quilt now has a backing and is all basted and I need a quilting pattern ideas for those hexagon flowers. I've searched everywhere and come up with the same one or two. I'd like the "flowers" to look flowery, so would like a flower quilting design that will use up the shape properly. Does anyone have one or have a suggestion where I could look? I hope I find time to post a picture of my cat "helping" me with the basting. She is so cute I didn't even mind a claw mark or two.
You're hand quilting this, right? So I don't understand why you'd want a quilting pattern. Just quilt it around the flowers, etc. Are you using a large hoop to hold the quilt? Quilting around the figures always looks more authentic anyway, I think. If you were machine quilting that would be different.
It's a hand made quilt, but still modern. Since there's no separation between the flowers, I wanted a simple geometric flower in each flower instead of just going around.
Am working on another sweater right now - am starting to get worried this yarn isn't going to go far enough. It was a BIG giant ball I found in Walmart for only $4 and looked like two of their super size balls. I'm so worried right now that now that I've finished the front and back, I'm going to divide the rest of the ball in half and do the sleeves accordingly. If I don't have enough, I'll make 3/4 sleeves.
ndcairngorm - just use another color to finish the sleeves. It's pretty in style now to have color blocks.
Hi refugee, the yarn is already variegated; I divided the ball in half last night and decided to just make short sleeves. I've got some white that I could have used to make the sleeves if I'd thought about it. Already got one sleeve done. However, I'm going to try your idea of color blocks on something else - I've got so many scraps of yarn, and plenty of the same thickness. I kind of like the idea of using color blocks and interspersing them with white blocks.
The last sweater I did was using yarn that gradually went at the beginning of the ball from the very lightest salmon tinted white to a deep salmon. Never again. To get things to match at the seams and sleeves, etc., I drove myself crazy doing three rows of this shade and three more of a slightly darker shade, etc. because the balls didn't start at the same depth of color. When I finally finished I had about a dozen small balls of each tint. I gave the sweater away and will never know if all that work was appreciated! (Guess that wasn't the idea but I was using a lot of epithets and not deleting them while I was knitting that one)
I just made this cute hat for my granddaughter. It’s a kit, and it only took a few hours.
Very cute hat!
