Can't really say that there is anything in my house I'd call "luxurious" - we downsized to a simple, smaller house in easy walking distance of "downtown" (such as it is) and the large city park. We wanted to be able to pay cash, so that meant nothing particularly fancy.

There are a few things I splurged on and consider myself fortunate to have - replaced the fireplace with a gas insert, bought a latex bed, had a landscaper fix the back and front yards - but none of that is "luxurious."

Luxurious isn't necessarily very expensive, I would say it's more something that is for the pleasure derived from it rather than a necessity. In some cases, that can be a more upscale version of something you might have had anyway - Dave's glass wall is an example. They would have had sliding glass doors to get out into the yard anyway , but the wall of windows just takes it so many levels beyond that. But it can be something much smaller too, like a ceiling fan with a remote control so you can turn it on without getting out of bed when you wake up and feel too warm.

Our house was built in 1909 and hasn't been updated since a 70's hodge podge remodel. Nothing luxurioius or a luxury. We have a nice view of the Olympics.

I bought my current house 12 years ago. It has central air for cooling. It's the first house I have ever had with a/c.

The most luxurious thing I ever got in a new home purchase was a washer and dryer!
Oh wow not having to drag my stuff to a laundromat or a shared laundry room
That's luxury
I thought I had died and gone to heaven

Sometimes it's those things that are the biggest. And how easy we forget how luxurious things like that really are
