After reading about everyone's luxuries in their homes, I have now come to the sad realization that my apartment has about zero luxuries at all.
im depressed right about now.....
You're in Brooklyn? My sons lived there for several years and their luxuries were access to great coffee shops, bars, food trucks, and theater. They only used their apartments to sleep, shower and change clothes.
I asked SO. His answer - the biggest hot tub he could find. We use it daily. In summer with a floater cooler, in winter with ear muffs. My answer - a 4x6 painting we visited every weekend for two years at the gallery (with associated bar hoppin in DC) and bought a year later after we were back in the US and had a house. The gallery had it crated and waiting for us. Who knows why. Part of a a tryptich - Smithsonian, painter's sister, us.
Our new shower is definitely the most luxurious permanent thing in our house. We really enjoy using it.
But our Sleep Number bed with its down comforter and down pillows is a luxury that we can take with us if we move. Both of us remark on the comfort of our bed almost every night.
^, yes, I'm a native Brooklynite, I was born here.......when the dinasurs roamed...
I just saw your bedroom pic on the other thread and that brick wall is to die for. I'd rather have that than many of the things folks have posted about here. (Which is not at all a knock on them, I'm just trying to make the point that a luxury is in the eye of the beholder.)
I'd have to say that my 80" TV and surround sound system is the most luxurious item. Every night is movie night.
Oh yeah, I forgot about this.
Our TV is less than half that size but our new home is also wired for surround sound and there are speakers in most rooms, including the master bath, and on the back deck and front porch. We don't use the TV much but the sound system connects to our iPhones/iTunes playlists and that's been nice. In the morning, DH sometimes sits on the front porch to drink coffee while he listens to his favorite podcasts. (We've only one neighbor close enough that we were concerned it might bother her and she has assured us she can't hear it.)
My new LG range and the new KA dishwasher are the only 2 things I would call a luxury.
