I have windows all across the back of my kitchen,so when ever Im cooking or washing dishes I see...Two Huge Old Magonila Trees with a big tree house in the middle that my boys use to play in when they and I were young.Green grass and a Twin Pecan with its leaves almost close enough to touch in the summer. The Kitchen is about 10ft. off the ground and the back yard gentley slopes downward. To the left is what we call our Little House it matches our white house with moss greem trim.Behind the Tree House a little further down over a large embankment is a N.S.Railroad track with a passing train or two everyday.
Sometimes I try really hard to see more than what is there.I try to see what use to be.My boys running around chaseing each other and playing beneath the trees.Clay and Stone that is what we named our sons.Clay is the oldest now 26.We are still trying to mold him.Stone was our baby,we lost him in 2007.His birthday would have been Thursday April 4th,he would have been 19.He was always, always in that back yard.Playing with his dog Mystic.Running barefoot against my wishes even in the fall.I always could look out of those kitchen windows and check on my boys knowing they were safe.Stone was as strong as his name and loved by many young and old.But I have to say that still everyday and everytime I glance out those Kitchen Windows I give everything I have or ever will have just to see my Stone playing happily in our backyard again.
The window over my sink looks out onto my neighbor's 6' privacy fence, which is covered with a jasmine vine. I suppose there are more inspirational views.
I covered it with a large stained glass panel. I like it a lot better now, especially when the sun is shining on it.
We have a wooded lot, with 4 huge pines that stand out like dominant skyscrapers in a cityscape. Also, we sit up high, so we can see (during the winter-no leaves on trees) several houses in our development.
If you have a window above your kitchen sink, what do you see?
We have an unobstructed view to the east with a horse close to the house, juniper cedar trees, then open grazing land, and a couple of small mountains 40-60 miles out--and a whole lotta sky,
I look through my living room out a window at a beautiful red Japanese maple.
