Also, reading through more of the thread, if the conversation happened like the OP claims, that's one thing. But I always find it convenient when someone chimes in with more details that suit a certain narrative after others have made "assumptions." In any case, I think much of this thread could have been cleared up if the entire story was told from the first post, and not pages into the conversation.
I think I would have added - "I'm not interested in discussing this."
When I used to go south for the winter, I was always amazed at how many people would assume you had the same political/religious/whatever views as them. Talk about living in a bubble.
This happens from both sides of the aisle.
When walking my dog after the election, a polite hello to a passerby and acknowledgement of the rough times we've had with Corona virus promoted a tirade by the other guy about Trump supporters being racist xenophobes. No one mentioned Trump at all. He just started going off. My husband was giving me the evil eye, like 'get outta this,' but I was trying to be polite and just made what I thought were neutral comments in response.
He assumed I was like minded because I live in an uber liberal state. But what's more troubling is that he thought I would care what he thought. SMH. I'm not going to engage in any of that this year. I will walk away.
No. Not cancel culture. I am too old for that.
More akin to a vicious f—- you.
Because you don't agree with his political leanings, you think it's ok to try and ruin his livelihood to the extent it can be done on Yelp or a similar ratings website. Same mentality as the cancel culture bunch.
As a pragmatist, I would take this as a sign they do their work well. If a tradesmen has no fear of potentially offending a client with his opinion or porn pics on his phone, he must have a lot of people waiting to give him work when the offended ones tell him goodbye.
I may not want them back in my home, however.

It is the same thing and not only does it harm the livelihood of a business owner but it also harms the public who cannot trust reviews and might not have the option of hiring a quality worker because they will no longer be in business due to false reviews.

Perhaps the OP needs to hang a sign on his door stating that no contrary political opinions by the home owner will be tolerated and if you dare to have a different opinion, you will be punished in whatever way possible to do you the most harm.
