They were in total opposition to mine.

Well, any chance of me ever calling him back to do any work at my house went out the window right then and there.

Pro tip: Be professional, people.
Then don't talk to me when i am working in your house like a silly mouse. I have lots of hate and things to say jay and will let loose like a moose on the loose.

I don't think I ever had a repairman discuss his political views. None of the people I know ever talk about religion or politics. Sports is another matter. If you live where I do and you're not a Cardinals fan folks kind of think of you as an enemy.
I have a neighbor who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 hypochondria and he manages to change every conversation into something medical. I used his bathroom once and noticed his medicine cabinet. It was the biggest I ever saw, easily over 6 feet long.
When ever I see him I say " hello " but never " how are you doing ?" because he will start in with every ache, pain and discomfort he has been experiencing. I just don't have the time.

If he did a good job, I'd hire him again regardless of his political opinions, within reason. If he was too aggressive about it, then I might reconsider, but I think one of the worst features of our current climate is the need many feel to shut out anybody who doesn't agree with them about everything.

All in all though, it's best not to bring up political stuff when doing a job.

Yi'd have to be a real creep to do something like that.

less of a creep than someone who shows random people porn on his phone

The fact that you think it's ok says more about you than anyone saying they are bothered by someone proselytizing a political opinion they disagree with in their own home

It says a lot more about you that you think it's OK to try to ruin someone financially because you disagree with their views.

BTW, I never said I thought it was 'OK.' Get your stories straight. I said it's weird, but not enough to not hire the guy. Adult men can handle seeing a little porno.

Where did I say that? If you disagree with the person who said they would post negative reviews based on political opinions, then address your comments to that person because I never said that.

However, I would absolutely report and write negative reviews about someone showing porn in my house because that is gross and creepy and no woman would want a person like that in their house. That has nothing to do with politics but a person with that poor judgement doesn't deserve a job where there is the amount of trust required to let them into your home.

You jumped in with a snide comment, so here we are.

It wasn't in the house. He was sitting in the truck while I was talking to the other guy on the street. When I went over to the truck he showed me something he was watching and asked "What would you do with that, H?" I cracked a joke and left it at that. I highly doubt he would have shown a woman that.

Most men with internet access look at porn (some more than others), get over it.

I don't talk to repairmen during the pandemic. Seems wise to minimize contact with strangers and keep things restricted to the absolute necessities.

In pre-pandemic days I never had a contractor of any sort bring up politics, only sports, which typically is a welcome subject for me. I do recall the odd Uber driver trying to talk politics, which is even worse, because you truly are a captive audience. In that case it might have affected my tip.

Well that is quite a bubble. Then being in elected office for 20 years people like your might barber know who you are. You are not probably not in the same position as the rest of us.

From the comments here, including mine, people do randomly discuss politics. To the others here that think we invite this by bringing it up, trust me I didn’t bring it up. It just happens
