Thanks for the information... this is really helpful; what about Katy or Sugar Land? I've heard those are good areas too?

Are the areas mentioned (Meyerland, belier, etc...) are those that have a lot to do...shopping, restaurants, good schools? I've been to the Memorial area...that seems a pretty happening place.

Thanks for this information! So appreciative.

I thought the first Jewish temple in Houston was built in Bellaire. Anyway, I thought of Bellaire because years ago the few Jewish I know all happen to live there and they mention all their family and parents live there also.

I am Jewish and live in Sugar Land. It is very nice here. That said, my kids are the only Jews in their classes. Not like where I grew up in Baltimore, MD where 80% of my classmates were Jewish.

How do you know if someone is Jewish unless they tell you outright or mention a Jewish holiday?

If you had to pick a good suburb that is closest to the private schools mentioned above (Beren, Weiner), Sugarland would be the best, though, right? Better than Katy, Pearland, or certainly north in The Woodlands, Kingwood etc.

So, Sugarland might be a good compromise if you are not going to be in the Bellaire, Meyerland, Braeswood area.

I lived in NYC for many years and my Jew-der is actually pretty good. Most Jewish people can tell their fellow tribe quite easily.

Their Last names, their looks, their profession, their friends, where they live, etc.

I am not Jewish but most of my friends are. I always make a point to only hired Jewish lawyers They never disappoint me.

You can tell by their last name(not always), or if they're wearing a yamaka, or they can't eat something because its not kosher, or they mention they are about to pick their child up from a "jewish" daycare.

Or if in my son's case, the teacher was talking about the holocaust in a history lesson and asked the class. But my son is blonde and blue eyed and we don't have a Jewish last name (my husband is not Jewish). That said, my my kids have had matzoh all week.
