Hello -

My family is contemplating a move to Houston... we are not overly religious, but would like our kids to be in schools where there are other Jewish kids, etc.

We are not from the area, so we have no clue...any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks-

Bellaire, Meyerland area, and inner loop has the highest concentrations. There is a JCC on Braeswood South, and most of the pocket neighborhoods around there have Jewish families.
It's all mixed though, with lots of ethnicities and religions.

Many Jewish folks live in Meyerland near the Jewish Community Center. There are several private Jewish schools with good reputations, Emery Weiner and Beren Academy, to name a few.

Meyerland. I work at a law firm and quite a few of the Jewish Attorney's on my floor live there. The Jewish community center is close by, they even have jewish/kosher grocery stores. I can't think of the name of it, its on Brasewood and chimney rock.

This statement is incorrect. I lived in Bellaire for many years and was involved with civic activities. It has never been a predominantly "Jewish" neighborhood. Of the 16 families who lived on my block, two were Jewish.

My husband grew up in Memorial, and most of his closest friends were/are Jewish. I don't think anyone calls it a "Jewish area," but I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

Do you mean Fondren? I think there is a synagogue over there that's why so see so many jewish people. I know a lot of jewish people used to live in that area, I don't know about now. I don't know why anybody in there right mind would want to live in that area, I could be wrong though.
