No one works 9-5 in Texas. Nominally 8-5, but that usually ends up being 7-6 or something similar.

Presidential Election Day Act 1845

https://lwvofnassaucounty.org/election-day-history/

January 23, 1845 – By the act of Congress, the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November was designated as Election Day for presidential elections. Why November? The harvest season was ending, so farmers could take the time to go to vote. Why Tuesday? It could take quite a while for voters to get to the polls. That way they did not have to travel on Sunday.

It feels like you are being intentionally obtuse at this point.

LOL. ok. So that's the reason they can't vote during the extensive early voting period which includes weekends?

They have other things to do. It's really none of your business, and I don't understand this obsession with forcing others to live their life the way you want them to.

Isn't this the problem with the right-wing these days?

"I feel icky about people without traditional gender categories, so I want everyone to conform to my ideas about gender. Let's make it illegal for parents to support their kids gender affirming treatment."

"Talking about race makes me feel uncomfortable, so let's outlaw it."

"I don't like the idea of abortion, so I want to outlaw it."

"I don't think people need to vote by mail, so I want to stop everyone from doing it. Let's pass laws to limit voting."

and on and on and on. When did Republicans turn into such Nosey Nellies? Just stay out of other people's business!

How about we just open it up to year round voting then? How many weeks of early voting (with weekends) will it take for y'all to be satisfied?

And with drop boxes, don't you have to stand in line and show ID to drop your ballot off anyways? May as well stand in line to vote.

What if you could gather up ballots for people and turn them in? Maybe we should start doing that in Texas too. Show up at the polls (or drop box) with a trunk full of ballots.

Or we could just abide by the laws already put in place by the legislature for voting. Like the ones Chris Hollins totally disregarded in 2020, making up his own ways to vote. Drive-thru voting, 24 hour voting, and wanting to send mail-in ballots to every voter in Harris County. But y'all probably celebrate him for breaking our laws.

Because it's child abuse? Children should in no way, shape or form be able to make those sorts of life changing decisions about their bodies. When they're adults and fully matured, mentally and physically, then let them decide.

Talking about race is fine. Guilting kids because of the color of their skin isn't. Telling kids that only white people can be racist is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Killing humans should be illegal. If a pregnant woman is shot to death by a thug and her unborn child dies, how many counts of murder is that? You have to draw the line somewhere for abortion. Where that line is, nobody seems to be able to agree on.

What law has Texas specifically passed to limit voting? Chris Hollins BROKE laws in 2020 by making up ways to vote that weren't approved by the legislature.

What objection could you possible have to drive through voting of 24 hour voting if people still have to show their IDs?

You've just proven my point. These are your opinions but you want everyone to be forced to share them. I could debate issue by issue but this thread is supposed to be about Lina Hidalgo so I won't. It wouldn't matter anyway, not like you're going to be convinced that your opinion isn't the correct one.
