short term those investments are typically a drag on the bottom line (R&D, ramping up marketing, integration costs of acquisitions). Possible, but unusual, to get an intra-quarter return on those types of investments.

Layoffs sure help ....

don’t forget investors only need the perception that the retained earnings from dividend cuts are going to lead to higher growth down the road .

Retained earnings from dividend cuts can help boost share prices ...if a company is failing to grow or be profitable then investors may like the idea the company can plow more money in to their own growth ...... there is a connection between retained earnings good or bad at times..

Markets are based on perception of what is coming down the pike, those things I mentioned don’t have to take place q2 ...but the effects will be felt in share prices

right now dividend cuts are all about conserving liquidity and keeping the lights on. Don't think many of the companies that have cut their dividends will be highlighting growth in their Q2 earnings calls.

Cutting the dividend has no impact on the reported earnings (aka, "the bottom line").

Irrelevant as I have been saying all along ..markets aint main Street ...all those waiting for them to blow the whistle and say all clear missed all the low hanging fruit and a pretty substantial amount of gains ..

Heck they could have sold today if they thought it wasn’t over for the markets and made a lot of money .

So once again for the markets so far THIS TIME AINT DIFFERENT
