Lsquallhart, I also am in the health care field and understand 100%. Our industry is a bit different, so others don't understand. Six years ago, there were jobs that offered sign on bonuses, shift differentials (weekend and night) and other great benefits. Those days are over....for now.

You can say the same thing about most industries right now.
I'm not sure what there is to "get".

Exactly!

complete relocation package - yep, got that in the past
paid airfare, hotel, rental car for interview - yep, got that in the past
paid mileage if driving car to interview - yep, to that in the past

I think most people in health care see it as corporate greed. Hospital beds are packed, and the profits are still there. It's not like the jobs went overseas....the organizations are exploiting medical professionals. It's getting scary, like you need to put your license on the line when you go in for a shift.
I don't believe that health care can be compared to any other market. We are after all, talking about being paid to take care of human lives. If I am required to unsafely manage the care of 20+ critically ill patients because I need a job, it is completely different! Mind you, a safe patient load would be 7 under guidelines.
Hospitals are laying off, cutting hours and increasing the work of those that can not just quit and walk off the job. It's a disaster that is getting worse.
Ask any health professional out there, we are asked to do more for LESS. Many hospitals are straight up robbing staff. No raises, increases parking fees (even at night when lots are empty) and a whole bunch of other stuff to make even more in profits. Meanwhile, the rest of the industries believe that by going to nursing school, becoming a therapist or a technician guarantees job security.

Corporate greed is everywhere.
You in healthcare are not anymore "special" than the rest of us.
Sheesh.
I worked in an industry where if the product didn't work right, it meant a missile blowing up.
So, don't take that haughty attitude with the rest of us here.

I wasn't in healthcare.
See my comment above. Again, if you made a mistake at work because of the things I mentioned....could someone die or be seriously harmed?

I didn't say I was special. I am simply explaining the difference. Read what you want into my post, but chill out! I am far from haughty....it's not that serious.

No, it is not that serious. But you write like you are the only forced to make do with less.
Well, join the club.
Well great, then you understand. Having a license to protect is pretty serious. Calling people names....not so serious!
I didn't say it wasn't serious. You seem to think that the "pain" you are feeling in healthcare is somehow more "special" "important" whatever than what the rest of us are enduring.
That makes you an elitist.
