My western pals, huh? I don't need a history lesson of the past. The question is based on the present. And while you're considering a response from Texas, I am a Mizrahi who is fluent in Levant Arabic and lives within the Arab countries of the Middle East for than half of each year.
Your original statement was in relation to Shari'a. Not in relation to Shi'a or Sunni views of Islam.
Hope I don't take this off topic. But the Shariah of Sunni and Shi'a do differ.
Sunni Sharia is based upon one of 4 madhabs Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanafi or Hambali the Sharia of Iran is based upon Jafa'ari they are 2 different legal systems.

As I know the difference between the two, he stated:

And the question to him was basically in what currentShari'a led state can Jews openly pray. In Israel a Muslim can openly pray in public in nearly 99% of the country.

It is a bit hypothetical as today no sunni Nation is under Sharia, although Saudi claims to be, they are following the laws of the monarchy and not one of the Madhabs of Islamic Jurisprudence.
Oddly in terms of Sharia civil law the West bank comes closer than Saudi or Iran at least in Ramallah

OK, I'll go with that for the moment. Looking at Jerusalem without the politics currently connected to it, What happen's when a Jew attempts to openly pray on the Temple Mount?

Is that the result of Sharia or of Palestinian/Israeli friction?
I think it has more to do because of the strained relations, not sharia

I'm not going to make it that easy. Take some time to research it and we'll discuss it tomorrow. A thing to think about while you're looking into it as how many non-muslims can even get close to Mecca in SA.

Take a step back. Under the Ottoman Caliphate, Jews were allowed to pray on the Temple Mount. In fact that has been a practice put in place since our Caliph Omar (ra) conquered Al-Quds and opened up the mount for Jewish prayers for the first time in centuries as the Romans and Christians had banned the Jews from doing so. The current state of wanting them off the Temple Mount is intention... These Jews want to rebuild Solomon's temple and destroy Al-Aqsa... There will be resistance to this.
I'm not sure if you caught our drift earlier but there is no Shari'a led state, none. There's dictatorships, monarchies, various forms of tyrants and in some parts true anarchism. However if in theory there was a Shari'a led state, Jews would have more rights to practice their religion than in Israel itself.
As a Reform Jew, I hate the ult orthodox community they are not real Jews. I have more respect for Muslims than them.
I'm curious... What makes them fall out of the fold of Judaism in your opinion?
