You should hit up Guam, if you have never been. I spent 2 1/2 years there and that is the exact weather pattern 365 days a year. Well other than the 20% chance of rain. Guam you have a 99.999% chance of rain every day but it is usually just a quick hit for a few minutes each day. Just enough to keep the humidity at 95-100% 24X7. And some of the best scuba diving in the world to boot.

StinkieMcCain, quingguy, nickydim...it's not a "PC game". The word is offensive and should not be used. There is no infringement on your First Amendment Rights by asking you not to use an offensive term, if there was a law saying you couldn't use that word then that would be an infringement...please go back to law school. By using such a word and tolerating it you are part of the problem and not the solution.

I'm not trying to change anything. I recognize that this city isn't going to change.

This is a thread to highlight what the Las Vegas cheerleaders won't say about the place. Someone who loves smoking and gambling is OF COURSE going to love Las Vegas. There is very little to do as far as nightlife that doesn't revolve around smoking and gambling.

Las Vegas doesn't have a single real pub. Not one. They're all chain smoking emporiums to video poker. Take Aces and Ales. We should LOVE that place. Craft beer. Close to our house. But my wife refuses to go there because of the smoke. And even if we cut through the smoke, everyone has their heads down, playing video poker like a bunch of zombies.

I unfriended them on Facebook because the only thing they ever post is video snapshots of Royal Flushes.

Bangers is the only place in town that I like -- no smoking and no video poker. But it has absolutely nothing other than some beer taps. It's stainless steel and sterile.

So when someone posts about the great social opportunities Las Vegas offers, there really needs to be an asterisk attached.

* If you love cigarettes and gambling.

No, sorry you didn't because it you did you would have known that Vegas is not even close to what DC is all about and don't try to tell me what DC got in snow the last 2 years, I have pictures from all my friends. Take it as a lesson for your next adventure.

My wife and I are the exact same. Granted we are mostly only in town on weekends but pull off about 45 weekends each year with a few full weeks thrown in just for fun. But I can't think of a single weekend that we didn't find something to do. Hiking, concerts, shows, gambling, just hanging with neighbors (we don't have a pool but they do).

Anyone going to the Brit Floyd show on Friday at Hard Rock? Maybe we will see you there.

You forgot to answer my question . . .

Staying in Friday (for a change). Saturday (after the pool party and dinner party) we're going to Fremont to see the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. I don't go to the free shows there anymore, since the crowds get a little much, but I was able to secure a couple spots at Derek's table

What problem?

Pretty general statement saying the word is offensive. It could be offensive to you but not to someone else. Is the word homosexual offensive to you? How about slob? How about rude? How about scoundrel? All adjectives describing humans. Grow up and grow some tolerance. If you are offended, move on and drop it and don't be such a primadonna (or is that word offensive too).

Retarded is real and a fact of life we live with. (1. characterized by a slowness or limitation in intellectual understanding and awareness, emotional development, academic progress, etc. ) I feel sorry for them, I don't make fun of them, and I help the mentally disabled whenever I can, but I won't ignore them as if they don't exist. And if retarded is the right adjective needed to describe a person, thing or situation, I have no problem using it. As you saw, there is an actual definition to the word in the dictionary.

Do you take offense to Imbecile, Moron, Idiot? These are technical terms as valid as Genius on the Stanford Binet IQ scale.

nickydim...if you don't get it that is fine but the word is offensive and should not be used. If you can't understand that maybe ask around and understand the reasoning behind why that word is offensive, not just to some but many. I'm done with responding to this topic of this word. We are talking about Las Vegas not your misunderstanding of why a word is offensive.

Oh, I didn't forget. I don't find it particularly relevant. I have lived in tourist towns my entire adult life. I don't have a problem with tourism. Tourists are great! They pay taxes so that we don't have to. (It's been like that every place I have lived.)

If you think you're going to paint me as a hypocrite because I hate gambling but work at a casino (at, not for, mind you), have fun with that. I work where I work because I enjoy it. I'm learning something useful. And it will be of great benefit when I can finally leave this hellhole.

I really do look at Las Vegas as an open-ended prison sentence. So, I'm going to leave with something to show for all these years I've wasted living here.

I have never said anything ill about our concert scene, the awesome natural beauty which surrounds this city, and the ease in which a resident can amass a fortune. Las Vegas has good points. Not many, but some.
