Lacrosse,

Do you want a SF House? What kind of residence are you thinking about?

For an SF house, you can go pretty much anywhere in the valley. Depending on how big you need, you could likely find something to fit your needs in any of the more desirable areas.

I was thinking that, being single, you might want a condo, so I was going to comment on that. But metro Vegas is much more about SF houses.

I love the ocean, the scene, the people, etc. So, I suggest LA instead. Vegas only if you love gambling.

All I want to do is live a simple life without any stress(just retired from teaching 35 yrs of stress) hanging out in the sports books, traveling at least 6 times a year (conveniently with McCarran Airport close by is a plus). I know it's hot there but I'm use to it with the Dallas humidity that we have. Also, with the crime I plan to live in a fairly safe place unlike North or NE Vegas etc. Somebody please let me know why I shouldn't move out there. I feel right now that living in Texas has nothing to offer me.
First of all, North Las Vegas, on the whole, is not unsafe. The crime in the valley is relatively easy to avoid for a metro area of our size, unless you like to hang out with druggies and such.
The areas of North Las Vegas that are unsafe are easily identifiable by the graffiti, weeds and the bars on every window. People in Aliante don't have that problem.

The local casinos will be more than happy to relieve you of your pension check, so that is no problem.
The problem is that you sound as if you are perhaps lonely and bitter already. If you come here with that attitude, it won't end well.
This town exploits weakness. I wish you all the best, whatever your decision.

LA is awful. Even worse than Vegas. The crime, the traffic, the taxes. Ugh.

You want ocean? Go to Jamaica, Santa Barbara, or Seattle. Not LA, in my honest opinion.

BBMW-For now I prefer to rent a house that has a garage and with a backyard (I know all about the backyards in Vegas) for my 2 dogs.

LV desert-how could you say that I'm bitter and about what. I love the sports betting atmosphere and where but Vegas is the place to be. For the last 30 years I bet on sports almost everyday on offshore websites. I have never claimed bankruptcy and have always been able to pay my bills and usually win more than I lose. Vegas is where I can receive payouts quickly unlike offshore sites whereby I have to pay a fee to receive payouts while going through bells and whistles.
