We just duck and wait a few months.
Fair enough, but the loss of 40% of the states revenue will have a significant impact, can we agree on that?

But let me ask you this - for 60 years or so Nevadas major source of funding has been the casino industry, for the time being that well is dry so in all sincerity what do you think should happen? Should the state police be laid off and the prisons emptied, if not where would you like to see the money come from to pay for critical services?
I'm not sure where the money should come from. All I know if taxes skyrocket just to offset the casino's we won't stay. Not because of higher taxes, but because those taxes will just be going to fund the status quo. Nevada has a poor safety net. If I am going to be paying the same in taxes as I paid in MN, I might as well get some social benefit for my fellow neighbor.

It is a failed business model that took decades to finally collapse. I posted a map earlier showing how Nevada has already been hit the hardest in job losses. Raise taxes, people leave. What it going to happen is Nevada is going to be begging the federal government for a bailout. The fed will then print the money to give to them. It will end badly no matter what route is taken. It has been said that the town needed to diversify many years ago. It didn't, not enough at least. This is the end result.

That's a rational answer & I agree with you, that is probably what I would do too if I still lived in Nevada

I don't disagree. Las Vegas is mostly a one-horse town. We both have jobs that are mobile and we came because we enjoy the sun, warm weather, and proximity to great places out west. The lower taxes were a bonus, but had no bearing on our move. But remove the tax benefit and still end up with subpar schools, poor policing, poor social safety networks and..... no thanks. I'd like to stay and I like it here and we had every intention to buy a home here in 2021, but we might just wait and see. We don't need to buy and I don't want to buy if we skip town in 2 years.

I feel bad for the hard-working people in this city.

Militias were formed by various governments and were in the early days a major portion of the US military. Washington for instance bordered state militia in the whiskey rebellion.
The Sheriff is elected. Police are not elected.

Nothing you said about militias negates what I have said.

Has Trump played golf since the outbreak happened? It seems not. He's been holding press conferences every day.

Your commie governor friend did, though.

How many beds were occupied before the "outbreak" occurred?

What!? You mean he takes weekends off like everyone else does? Who would have guessed?

BTW.. I doubt those weekends are actually off. More like he blows off some steam on the course for a few hours then goes back to work.
