I don't know what to say to that. They don't live in Nevada. I don't know why they felt the need to comment on our reopening at all when I mentioned it. I don't think it's too early. We passed the peak, met the benchmarks to lighten stay at home orders, and we're on the decline but that's still not a good enough reason for them? I mean is there something I'm missing? I know the projected deaths are going to go up but we can't stay locked up forever either. The pushback just surprised me.
I don’t know what to tell you. No ones been able to tell me why LA County has over 1200 covid related deaths while neighboring OC has only 35 (OC county has 3 million, LA has 10 million population) or for that matter why the cases are minimal compared to LA in literally every other county in the state.

Nevada seems to have been minimally affected. I don’t see why Nevada wouldn’t open up.

At some point, and hopefully SOON- I believe there will be a vaccine to eliminate the Covid-19 virus. More power and good wishess to the brilliant and dedicated people in science/medicine who are working to that end.

When that happens, and after a reasonable amount of time for adjustment, Las Vegas will be the same. Maybe better.
There is a resiliency and adaptability to the Human spirit wherein I could easily foresee that in a year from now- this could all be one horrific memory, that will be willingly blocked out and forgot.
Time marches on.

I think there will be a huge residue of economic and financial matters that will take some time to overcome, and that may effect the number of pleasure travelers and gamblers, etc. that come here.
But make no mistake- people are waiting anxiously to fill Allegiant Stadium, go to EDC, eat at a buffet, and lose their money at the slots.

I can gauge by my own situation that once the virus is eliminated- my business would return to normal within 3-6 months. I'm speaking for myself of course.

The aftermath of all this, and what may remain-social distancing, plexiglass, etc might be beneficial in the long run. When I visited Japan, it is routine to see people wearing masks. It was kind of odd then, but of course, now I get it.

Stay well, sty home, and think GOOD thoughts for those who will come up with the vaccine.

Eliminate the virus? That would have to be an amazing, super vaccine considering the yearly flu vaccine isn't very effective. Waiting for this vaccine to wipe out the virus would take a very long time. Pretty sure the economy can't wait that long.

I like your optimism Larry and I share in your good thoughts for those working on a vaccine.

Thanks. I hope I'm right; I THINK I am pretty much on target as far as resiliency, etc.

Now I fhave no background in medicine or knowledge as to whether an vaccine is an antidote for a virus, flu, pandemic, whatever.
Flu shots have worked for me for years, so- I'll take that FWIW.

I will NOT, however, drink a disinfectant!

They ran a $15 special last summer...I thought it was fabulous at that price. Lunch
only I believe. They have refrigerator cases of all the ingredients and you help yourself.
I guess that might have to change under the new guidelines? Looking forward to
getting back there however they reconfigure!

Forgot to add, I also tried Swish on Spring Mountain Road.
Japanese Hot Pot..that was also very tasty but not ACYE..they
bring you out a platter of ingredients. I found them on groupon so
the dinner ended up being very reasonably priced.

The data are not comparable from county to county, let alone from state to state or country to country.

Thanks for the hot pot tips. I've discovered a whole new world. I wonder if they will open since they are looking like the all you can eat buffet style model?

Buffets are in the news today with all 250 of Sweet Tomatoes locations closing across the country. I never ate at their salad buffets anyways even with their weekly coupons. The news is questioning if buffets will make it or not. The Casino Buffets better make a reopening. Vegas needs those gems like Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal Buffet or Bellagio and Wynn buffets. Some of the best.

Also in the news Treasure Island pushed back their opening dated from May 15th to May 22nd for Memorial Day weekend. Casinos don't open till Phase 3-4 and we're in Phase 1 till May 30th unless announced earlier which will likely happen unless they see a significant spike suddenly. We're still social distancing.

Phase 2 could be May 15th or May 22nd.
Phase 3 could be May 22nd or May 29th.
Phase 4 could be May 29th or June 5th.

Just a rough guesstimate. Looks like some Casinos are planning on opening in Phase 3 on May 22nd while I've seen others pushing back shows as far back as Phase 4 starting on June 5th.

The Japanese and other Asian countries also believe you can die from sleeping with a fan blowing on you....
