Can an apartment complex suddenly start charging for the use of something (in this case the pool) even though my lease has a break down of what I owe and no mention of any amenities being of use only if I pay? The fee is small but I know the start of nickle and diming when I see it.
Do you use the pool? I never do, and if my complex started charging me for it, I would certainly complain. I would give them back the key and tell them you do not use the pool.

I do. It is actually a decent pool. The charge is to get "a pass" for the pool. In other words, I'm not forced to pay it but the pool is now only usable if I pay.

All I can say is I dont agree with that policy. You are already paying them to live there, why do you need to pay additional money to use the pool?

Default So I have a solid plan worked out...

I am still working at Publix and my hours have returned closer to normal (was down to 22 last week, 29 this week) and I was told that if I work 1000 hours by April 1 of next yr, I would become vested in Publix and would have the option to sell Publix all my stock back to the company, which would be valued at over $4,500 by that time. Ive already worked over 120 hours since March 31, 2012

I am also vigorously trying to save roughly $300 a month x 10 months (rounding down instead of up) would be an additional $3000 by next year, you do the math! I wont post the total on here

I still want to come back to Las Vegas and now I feel better knowing I will be in a great financial position by next year. My car will also be paid off as well this time next year, which will save me around $350 a month ($235 a month car payment, insurance reduced from $250 to about $100 a month)

If all goes well I would have both money and time to get myself set up back in Las Vegas next year and start off on the right foot making the right choices, and the money would last until I could get a job

It sucks that I'll have to wait a year for my dreams to come to fruition, but I've learned that unfortunately good things dont come over night. But I feel very happy and accomplished that I have come up with a good financial plan that has me set in the right direction to come back to Las Vegas

See you all next year

Hmmm...a year should give you about 4,739 times to change your mind. Publix seems to be about the only consistent. Why don't you give them a shot and go for management? If you start contibuting to a 401(k) at your age...you should have well over a million by the time you are 60. The biggest mistake a young person can make is not building up that 401(k) at your age. And I know...there are plenty of other things...rent, car, insurance, groceries, hanging out, drinking, girls...that will make it seem impossible to do so. But trust me...this is a lesson that many (including myself) learn too late in life...the power of compounding interest.

Good luck.

Good luck.
Because Publix doesnt promote people based on good ethic, good service, and merit anymore. They simply promote who they like for personal reasons

I have a backup plan as well. If I decide not to come back to LV, Im going to use that money for another car and trade in my current one once its paid off

Welcome to Corporate America....no different than anywhere else. And it's always been that way.

That would be a mistake, and a big one I might. Considering the fact your car has a recent engine and it is mechanically sound, you could save a lot of money once it is paid off.

I thought you could take your drinks in and out of casinos? I always do, anyway. I know casinos can refuse anyone, but....
