Keep in mind visible smoke is just one component of air pollution. There are also toxins/gases coming out of tailpipes we can't see. Some of those combine with air particulates and form even more toxic ingredients in the pollution stew.

The communication package is coming I would think within five years. That could of course fed the engine light code into the internet. The car would squeal on itself.

Just got hit up by a beggar outside the Ace Hardware at Rampart and Cheyenne. Black guy mildly over weight about 35. Two kids. Infant in an stroller and skinny 3 or 4 year old.

Story was new to town and had run out of money and just needed to feed his kids and if I would just cover him at Jack in the Box he would be forever grateful.

Gave him $20.

Now particularly in light of recent events I am terrible mixed up. Why did I give him anything...I never give to beggars or even sweet young things who need gas money.

On the other hand why did I not give him a hundred.

Merry Christmas all.

Same reason I wouldn't give a bottle of heroin to a heroin addict. Enabling bad behavior does no one any good.

You know EA I mostly enjoy your views. Often outlandish but sometimes interesting and thought provoking.

In this case you are full of it...and may take your view and shove it...

I had more than enough reason to believe the guy was straight...and if it was a con it was good enough he should have gotten paid for it.

Even in my old fool mode I am quick enough and bright enough not to be easily scammed.

May the season be with you EA...May a reindeer drop a turd upon your brow.

lvoc! What are you going to do with the "$60 profit" from your generosity?

Old Indian saying: give $10 away and $40 will come back to you, in some form or another!

And it doesn't matter if you give it to a drunk, a heroin addict, someone looking for cigarette money, or someone truly needy!

People are worried... It's in the air.
Cowboy Christmas always does that.

I agree with EA -- there are legitimate programs for people who need help (and are willing to get clean to do it).

People who give money to panhandlers usually do so in order to feel superior for a little while. They may as well give money directly to drug dealers so as to eliminate the middle man.

Yup - But once in a while you do it because it is Christmas and the season allows one to do it and feel good about it.

All the Scrooges and Grinches to the contrary I think I may do it again.

Three Square always needs financial help. And they're not a bunch of drug-addled scammers.

But that doesn't satisfy the "need to feel superior to a random stranger on the street" hot-button (which resides in the limbic system, with the rest of the dangerous stuff). And thus the addiction merry-go-round takes another spin....
