Laugh all you want. It's tough all over, not just here. So you couldn't make it here, you don't need to keep coming back and insulting the state.
A sister of mine in California was laid off last week due to the recession. She has kids, dogs, mortgage etc. She has also applied all over the place and no one is hiring. She is in the banking industry.
You seem to be doing good now that you moved back home. Hope you keep your job. It's never a sure thing anywhere these days.

Sigh...I got fired yesterday by Desert Cab. I couldn't keep up with the average boookings of the other drivers, so they let me go. I just don't like their tactics. I don't believe in long hauling, or taking the tunnel when it's not needed. I was going to be at 8pm, so that I could wake up at 1:25am, then be at the yard at 3:15am and back before 4pm. I applied to Yellow Cab, and they're a lot easier going. My highest book at Desert was on Saturday, at $205.80. High book that day was $504.

Wish me luck, everyone!

Sorry to hear that. Cab driving is not an easy job from what I have heard. Was it very high stress?

High stress? Just in keeping up with the average. It was fun, but living on adrenaline can be rather interesting.

Yup, all shifts were 12 hours. I got half the book, minus gas, 23% tax for tips, withholding, and fica taken out. It didn't matter how much I got in tips, the tax was from my share. We also got "tips" from the strip clubs, but I never got to drop any guys off at one. I'm thinking about getting a signature loan, so that I can make my rent payment by the fifth. I really don't want to do a title loan on my truck.

Is there any chance that you Aqua and LV Drunk can go back to school to study something you would really be interested in doing? It's hard to see someone living this hard and you know it doesn't get any easier as you get older. Living on the edge and doing without is kind of challenging when young but it can get old very fast.

I'm also wondering why we do not hear from MomMom, Daddy's 3M or Red Rock any longer?
