Gee wizz, this is`nt anything new at all! Employers in our country have these freedoms and can fire n`hire however they chose, unless a written contract with the employee was made beforehand stating otherwise.

Now you can imagine why so many people prefer a more social environment rather than elbow. Employers should be limited to what they can implement upon others and take social aspects of the employee, like family, kids to feed etc., into consideration before being allowed to fire at all.

We need more Employee protection from controversial employers who only think of themselves and not the welfare of the employee.

We actually have to sign a paper stating that we understand that our employment is based on the right to work.

Even though we elected a socialist this is not yet a socialist country. However, there are some states that have gone that way and place a heavy burden on the very people who keep the economy going.

I love it when people with nothing to lose want to dictate to those who have everything to lose. If you were to invest all your hard earned money in a business, and put everything you have on the line, taking all the risk and responsibility for whatever loss the business might encounter, be taxed to death on the salaries you pay, be forced to provide all kinds of benefits to employees who have nothing invested but their time, and who are never satisfied with whatever they get, I doubt seriously that you'd want to be told who you must hire or keep on your payroll. Especially if they aren't producing.

Nevada is a right to work state. All that means is that you don't have to belong to a union to work.

What you are looking for is that Nevada is also an "at will" state, which means there is no implied contract between you and the employer. You can quit at any time, and he can fire you at any time unless you have a contract, union or otherwise.

If you want the employer to be forced into a one-sided contract that says he must give you notice, or any other consideration when you aren't doing your job, maybe you'd better pass a law that says the worker must give the employer notice before he quits, and must find a suitable replacement. And further, that if the business loses money the employees must cough up part of the loss.

Where do you people get the idea that the state should take care of you to the detriment of your freedom? Don't you ever hope to get out of being dependent on others? We are all responsible for ourselves in this life.

There has to be protection for both sides. Many employees will do whatever they can to take advantage of their employer but at the same time, employers should not have the right to fire their employees who will not cheat and break the law. It's well known in the trucking industry that management encourages their drivers to keep two log books; one that is available for law enforcement to check over and the other log book that is actually the hours they have driven. Drivers are encouraged to drive more than their 12 hr. shifts, doing whatever they must to keep their eyes open and if in the course of this, they run over a soccer mom in a minivan with 3 kids, the company fires the driver and acts innocent. If he's lucky to get back safely, then the company rewards their "movers" and he'll have his job even longer.

Then you have a civil case. But you need to create a paper trail, keep good records so you can prove it in court. It's actually a good idea to always keep a record of your professional life for your protection.
