Aqua, won't this company be exactly the same as the others who push their drivers for longhaul and then get rid of them when they don't perform that way? I also began to wonder if some of these companies are not allowed to work the Strip, how can they take a local the scenic route without them being aware?

Airics: Unless they're going to the port (Mc Carren), most Srtrip runs aren't that long. That's why dropping at strip clubs and massage parlors for the kick backs is great. Runs from outlying properties can be great. I had a run from Red Rock Casino to the port, and the fare was $55.50. You think that a doctor would have tipped more than $8. :/ Locals are often going to/from appointments, work, or the port. If you haven't got one yet, get a good GPS. I have a Garmin Nuvi 400w, and it's paid for itself.

JJ: The owner of Deluxe said that he doesn't belive in long hauling.

Well that sounds good that you have apparently got on board with a more upfront company. I think it's always best for both sides to lay their cards out on the table beforehand. I wish you a lot of success with this new one.

Air...Bell is the best company.....be friendly to the dispatcher that gives you your trip sheet....answer the radio EVERY time....tip a buck or so when you get your sheet and again when you turn it in at night....you'd be surprised how far that goes....when I used to drive for Bell, I KNEW when I walked in the door that I had my minimum book made...just from personal calls.....pass out cards with your # and schedule on them....be sweet to the locals and they'll be sweet to you.

MOST locals ride on a regular basis....altho a few will be 'occassionals'

Be willing to carry a lil ol ladies groceries.

You'll do well.

JJ: I'm hoping to get on with Deluxe, but I've got at least 12 others that I'm up against.
Dyn: You were lucky to have those great personals. Did you ever have to long haul?

For those who are interested, there's going to be a protest against the TA at the Bluegreen Resort on Tropicana on 10/27 at 11;30am. The TA wants to put out more medallions, and reduce the number of passengers to four. Any more than that has to ride in a limo.

That's what I tried to do, but it's hard to do when the line of cabs on the stands were long, and there aren't that many fares. I don't believe in long hauling. They are expecting the kind of bookings they were getting during the boom, and taking it out on the drivers if they aren't getting it.

yep....the joys of being a cabbie......you REALLY have to hustle....thats why a tip in and a tip out to the dispatcher helps a lot.....be fast on the radio.

Default Anybody going to the Locos game tomorrow?

I'm taking the family tomorrow to the inaugural UFL game at Sam Boyd. Is there anyone else thinking of going?
