In reference to my last post, I have had the same roomer in my house for 11 years now, who has now officially become a family member, but he fell on some hard times this winter and it rather scared me, as he was unable to make the rent for awhile and I had another mouth to feed. I enjoy helping those in need, but with this neverending recession, I'm more than cautious about bringing anyone else to my house, even temporarily.

Feeling needed is one of the greater high's in this world, but there are limits to that.

This is how I feel on that. First off, I totally respect what you did for your roommate. That is very commendable of you. There are some others that would have thrown him out. I personally feel the need to be a good person and help everyone I can. Believe it or not, I am somewhat of an angel. I was out last week and met a newly homeless guy who came here from Albuquerque since he could not get any work there either. I took him to a nice dinner at Hooters. He was shocked, and he told me that I am the only one he has met who was so generous to him. The sad fact is I am one of the working poor myself, but it made me feel good that I made his day. I feel life is short, and I would at least like to make a difference in this world. I may be a loser economically, but I am a winner otherwise.

Davie update- Davie made it to Lake Charles, LA., not too far from his goal of Beaumont, TX. I did warn him that there really is nothing between San Antonio and El Paso along I 10. It is miles and miles of nothing. I spoke to Davie at some length and I can tell you all that he is an exceptional young man.

I can relate to your post but I can tell you that Davie is not one who will expect to live off the charity of another person. (Dang, I sound like a mother hen).

One other thing I would like to add. I just bought myself a Mustang Gt convertible today. I am going to soon (within a month or two) part with my Ford Escort as I am not going to want to insure two vehicles for long. I bought it for $500 three years ago, and it has and still is extremely reliable. I have more than got my moneys worth out of it, so here is what I have decided to do. I am willing to give it away for free to someone in need. I ask that it really goes to someone in need and NOT to someone who is going to resell it for a profit. I know a lot of people are struggling right now so hopefully I can make someones day here. The car is ugly and nasty....

But, it is literally as reliable as a new car (no joke). I will only consider responses from posters on here that I know and trust, so 1 post newbies do not bother replying. If any of my friends on here knows someone who fits this criteria, let me know. By the way, here is my new car.

Nice car LVD! Don't cry when you get each little ding in the parking lot.

LVD, I knew someone who was attempting to leave his wife one time, she followed him out to the parking lot with a sledge hammer, and your car looks like his car afterwards, except she started in on the windows, and then went south from there, east, west and back up north again!

I'm thinking that LVD might actually be Jesus Christ himself. At the least, he lives his life as Jesus taught us to. LVD, you are an extremely generous person. Check with Aqualung...I know at one time he was looking for a car.

I have a close friend who desperately needs a car. He's 22, has a lady on SSI (debilitating migraines), and a 3 month old son. He works graveyard shift security out in Henderson. He'd love to pick it up tomorrow, since he has to take the bus everywhere. I'll DM his ph# to you, LVD.

His family are the ones who took me in after I got booted from my apartment on New Years Eve.
