I'm in a 1650 sq. ft. 2 story 3bed, 2.5bath, with a single A/C unit, solar screens, and basic programmable $30 thermostat.

My highest electric bill has been about $250 for a month in july or august last year.
The lowest has been about $38 for the month in march this year!!

Gotta love frugal roommates and LED/CFL light bulbs to help that bill stay low.

I just added a 1.5" Styrofoam board to insulate my west facing bedroom window so I can survive a little longer without A/C. I only gave it 1 smoke test this year so I'm hoping for no problems this summer.

It's getting real close to me cracking and turning it on. Doesn't take much more than 90 degree weather to motivate me!

My place is 30yrs old, 2br/2ba, 1500sqft, lots of windows with solar screens.

The highest bill last summer was $250, having run the a/c around the clock (last months bill by comparison was $67). It really helps having ceiling fans installed near the vents to help circulate the cool air.

Finally had to turn it on Wednesday when it was 90!

Yesterday when I got home it was 64 in the house. No AC here yet. I can't wait to get back, however I'll probably have to turn the air on when I get there.

Mine is an older home and VERRRRY well insulated [except for the addon bedroom] so it stays cool all day...we don't worry until it hits 105 consistently

I have a ground floor condo down there so hopefully it won't require to much AC usage. However I'm use to much cooler temps.

The problem is I only stay a week or less at a time. So it's just hot to me. If it's 90-95 and dry I'm OK.
