Open your eyes and look around the crappy parts of Freeport. Central American gangbangers and illegal aliens all over the place. That's what makes Freeport "bad." Just like in Hempstead, the blacks with two nickels to rub together are fleeing the area, and rightfully so. This has nothing to do with "black people." You echoed my thoughts. I am frequently in Freeport and in Hempstead. Freeport has a huge problem with gang activity by illegal aliens. There is actually a gang that is headquartered in Freeport and no it's not a black gang either.
I have no idea about the elementary program. I'm just referring to the high school.
As far as shootings, I recently was speaking with a woman whose son was shot walking home and killed for no reason. She was telling me that the area is dangerous and this is the area South of Merrick that I thought was ok.
I heard about a shooting in Massapequa, some crazy girl wanted to know if Joey lived there and for no apparent reason the girl shot the lady of the house in the head. The lady of the house, Mary Jo was left bleeding on the ground in a puddle of her own blood. The family moved from dangerous Massapequa and now live in safe California. The girl still lives on Long Island where she has worked as an escort and sells amateur sex tapes of herself on a website. I think she's a product of the Merrick SD. She probably still resides in one of those dirtbag, dangerous towns on the South Shore of Nassau.
If you are a middle class black family, it's a great area. Well kept homes. If you are white, you might be uncomfortable since you will be the minority and it would be a bad choice. If you don't mind being the only white family, then you are fine. People differ on this.
Sounds like those realtors from the 60's. We don't need the realtors to do the dirty work, we can get people from other towns to ruin the reputation of a community. No wonder why Long Island prides itself on its segregation. We are #3 in the country, we can do better, let's make it to #1.
lol, you go to great lengths, above and beyond the average Joe. I wish I would have known this when I was selling the house by owner. I use to field calls all the time " Is the house located in North Baldwin" I should have responded no......not according to "The Nassau County Planning Commission" and I wouldn't be lying
Did you sell to Blacks? Did you get lower than you wanted? Was it at a great loss? Were there any potential white buyers? Did you leave because of the scary black people? What are your feelings of Baldwin today? I remember one poster who was frightened by a transvesite on crack when he drove through the town. Is that what Baldwin has turned into?
Freeport is not that bad, well maybe it is if you are afraid of Black people. As for shootings, that may happen maybe once a year in the North east section. The area is not worst, but it isnt the best.
If I were to buy in Freeport it would be in the beautiful Stearn's Park section in NW freeport (much of that area goes to Baldwin Schools). The areas west of long beach and south of Atlantic are nice as well.
Is that the area with the really big homes and diverse housing stock,lots of Tudors, Dutch and CH Colonials? Most of the homes appear to be professionally landscaped. It's a much nicer looking neighborhood than North Merrick, where every homes is a little Cape Cod, Ranch, or High Ranch.
I agree 100% with this quote. I moved to Baldwin 3 years ago and love it. Prior to that I was focused my housing search on the Stern's Park section of Freeport, especially the "state streets" i.e. Deleware, Connecticut, Penn. etc. The school districts vary in this area, most homes are in Freeport, some in Baldwin, and some are even in Roosevelt.
Many people on this site consider an area "bad" when people of color move into the area, which is really sad. My neighborhood in North Baldwin is very diverse and a NICE place to live. All of my neighbors keep their property up to par, they are pleasant, their children are respectful, they don't have loud parties or bbq's, and that's all you can ask for.
Thanks for calling a spade a spade. It's sad no matter how well off black people get many whites on Long Island still are saying there goes the neighborhood. Blacks want to live with other Americans and not feel ostracized(sp). How can they if the attitudes of the 50's and 60's still run strong?

EXACTLY! Because the LI mindset of old which still prevails to some degree is "blacks are what causes BAD neighborhoods in the first place so they should stick together."
