I shop at shoprite. Best grocery store IMO on long island. I like publix but they are in Florida.

In NC now too, although that's still a tad too far.

Compare the LI grocery prices, whether at Stop & Shop or Fairway or King Kullen, to any other region. LI's prices are way higher. You need to shop the sales much more carefully, making stops at multiple grocery stores. Of course, it's not as bad as in Westchester, but....

And yet Wegman's is coming to NYC in Brooklyn. Maybe it has nothing to do with unions why aren't on LI, but more of a logistics issue with where their current stores are at?

Is Stew coming to LI? When I moved here, I was happy to see their wine store in Carle place, but then disappointed there was no supermarket. I personally find Fairway in Westbury the best... its even better then the one in Brooklyn I use to go to all the time.

Yes they are building one now near the airport in farmingdale. It opens early 2016. That place is crazy it's like Disney in a supermarket.

Some of Stew's prices can be a bit much (not Whole Foods high, but...) and I'm sure they'll build it in the typical maze-fashion that prevents you from missing ANY section of the store.
