It all seems "common and normal" to you. Its the worst of the worst. If someone from another state moves to LI they either leave immediately or become like an Orca trapped at seaworld (the fin folds over, they hang at the bottom of the tank, and moan in misery).

Rather than read all of that, the short answer is: liberalism. Then these people put in their 20 years, maxed out the last 2 years for maximum overtime/pensions (what a corrupt process that is anyways), then they immediately leave and continue voting for the same stupid policies in red states til they turn it purple.

You were good until the last paragraph when you went sheep and used the L word. Funny, I don't think many L's voted for Kate Murray and the GOP machine for 100+ years but there it is. Our problems are bi-partisan. Libs v cons is some mid 90's talk radio stupidity that keeps people from learning what their true interests are and who might best serve them. Instead they pick a team and go from a free thinker to a kool aid sheep, kind of like your post did.

Dead on. Born and raised in CT, none of this is normal, in fact, it’s the definition of insanity. While CT is being run into the ground by Dems, they don’t have 1/2 the money making schemes that go on here, and somehow manage to have nice roads. Trying to make the best of it while here, but you nailed every single thing!

Good point, must be bipartisan. Everyone is leaving these states (NY, NJ, IL, etc) in droves, because of the weather. I forgot. Which is odd, because if anything, I would think with climate change and all, less and less people would be leaving.

Many of the problems you mentioned (high public salaries and insanely generous pensions) were instituted by the Republican machine back in the seventies. Everyone was happy because their neighborhoods were safe and clean, and their garbage was picked up three times a week.
Anyone with a basic understanding of mathematics could understand it would not be sustainable thirty years down the road, but nobody cared at the time.
Now it's time to pay up.

Actually, they always leave for the weather. Retirees leave, immigrants replace them. The recent difference is wealthy NYers declaring their 2nd home in snowbird land as their primary residence. NY gets the tax shaft. I never said Cuomo wasn't a moron, but on LI, both teams raise taxes and both get indicted, the GOP with a slight lead on the corruption scorecards.

Unfortunately the property owners tax of two state residents will not change. The NY property owners
Will Still pay the full amount of NY property tax. The only tax consideration of dual residents will be an
Apportioned amount of NY State income tax split between 2 states. And NY State tax law states that dual residents who spent 180 days in NY State are NY State residents for tax purposes. And NY State
Is cracking down on dual state residents.
