Merrick has been trending all day (negatively) because of racism, segregation, etc.
Lots of home break-ins and car thefts in my area in NC last night. Think the police were preoccupied on the side of town that borders Raleigh and our side got taken advantage of.
I don't want to paint an entire hamlet with a broad brush. But. I can't say I'm surprised. By far the least welcoming experience I had while house hunting was in Merrick.

The whole thing was dumb. The whole reason there were counter protestors there was because there was a widely circulated ANTIFA Facebook threat probably BS, that said they would start marching there in Merrick then take back the neighborhoods of “white privilege”
Twitter says they are coming back to Merrick en massee June 4th - 5 -6 pm at the Merrick LIRR.
Garden City, Floral Park and other Village police say they're guarding their villages with roof top sharp shooters.
Uniondale gun store had lines around the block.
Its pretty clear - Long Island does not want to be messed with & are sick and tired of this pretend protest.
Our elderly are also tired of sitting home, wondering if its safe to go to the damn store without running into a protest.
Its really enough now.
And knowing all this - Curran hasn't tried to alleviate tensions by throwing a curfew down until these protesters move on.
