Can’t wait until the filibuster which most dems have been trying to get rid of for months will all of a sudden become the best thing ever! after the GOP retakes congress
Biden still holds the veto pen, so even if the GOP gets rid of the filibuster completely, which they probably will, nothing will get passed that is against what Biden wants.

A GOP led house, and senate in 2023-24 will be a do nothing branch. We already know that the GOP want to privatize Social Security, and Medicare. This has long been a goal of theirs.

That being said, has a newspaper endorsement ever swayed anyone here to vote for one candidate over another? I know I have never been swayed by any newspaper endorsement.

The only party to started to change Senate rules are the Dems. They started during Obama/Reid and during Trump/McConnell it was simple payback. The GOP won't change the rules, leave that to the Dems.

Ordinarily a newspaper’s endorsement simply confirms its bias. (It only gets funny when the paper claims to be unbiased)

Wouldn’t it be funny if concerns regarding the economy and crime actually outweighed concerns for unrestricted abortions and nonexistent insurrections?

Even in New York:

A new Survey USA poll on Friday revealed that Gov. Kathy Hochul is losing her stark lead over challenger Lee Zeldin in the New York governor's race.

Two months ago, the same poll showed Hochul was ahead by 24 points, but Hochul and Zeldin now sit at 47% to 41%, respectively.

On Friday morning, Zeldin scored an endorsement from the Fraternal Order of Police. This key endorsement came one day after he attended the annual Al Smith charity dinner right next to his opponent.

Ok first off there is no point on the GOP getting rid of the filibuster while Biden is president for the reason you just explained, in fact it would be dumb because if in 2024 things go south the GOP would want to make darn sure they have the filibuster at their disposal. So chances of that happening is pretty much ZERO. Also when the GOP had all 3 branches during 2016-18 trump begged the GOP to get rid of the filibuster to no avail, they didn’t even have close to the GOP senate votes to get rid of it and still don’t. the dems on the other hand literally are in lock step to get rid of it except for manchin and Sinema. When the GOP takes congress the dems will use it all the time and it will become magically their best friend again to shield Biden from having to veto. Schumer used the filibuster constantly in the Obama years so he wouldn’t have to veto anything with few exceptions.

Yes it will be a do noting branch because the dems will block everything the GOP passes. Par for the course. The whole point will be to completely halt Bidens agenda and to begin investigations of his administration. Pretty much turning into a lame duck until 2024. Welcome to politics, you think the dems wouldn’t do the same if the situation was flipped? Lol during trump BTW they used the “racist” filibuster 317 times. Who’s the do nothing party now?

Oh and privatizing social security etc is never going to happen, that was the old neocon GOP pipe dream. Those guys are rapidly dwindling

Lee Zeldin is weak on crime. Look what happened on his own front lawn. And what kind of parent leaves two 16 year old girls home alone in a neighborhood like Shirley?
