I dont know the history (I am sure there are plenty of threads on here telling us why east of Carmans rd is Amityville schools but from what I understand it has been that way for quite soem time (for ever?)). AGAIN, on LI (probably more than anywhere else in the US) you buy your house based on the school district it is in. In this case #23 is the key. What is your point? Was it a racist decision on who would be in #23? What reason in the 90's would they change it?
Of course economics are involved.
The reason again is common sense. And the change actually almost happened but it wasn't "economical" to have those blocks on the other side of Carmans Rd re-districted. BTW, this is not a situation that only occurs in Massapequa - it is all over Long Island.

looking for the point pal. You are discussing stuff that has been established for some time: boundaries were set a long time ago. What would you like to happen? Seriously?

Nightly night.
I didn't say I wanted anything to happen. Since you mentioned that area I just pointed out the fact that the children living across the street from Berner JH can't go to school there. Oh and btw, what exactly makes the area across the street from Berner "sketchy" as you say?
Lake Grove great areas:
- Crestwood Forest (Sycamore Ave area east of Hawkins) - my favorite
- Country Woods (Wisteria Drive area north of Pond Path) - most expensive
- Main Avenue (south of Pond Path)
- Rustic Acres (Russet Lane area west of Stony Brook Road)
- Brittany Hills (Amboy Lane area off Hudson - although most is actually within the "Hamlet of Lake Ronkonkoma" / Town of Smithtown)
- (perhaps) the development on Walnut Street (east of St. James Road)
Then a whole bunch of stuff in the middle.
Then the "less great" areas:
- The entire southwest section of the village (bordered by Walnut and Laurelton)
- Areas east and west of Stony Brook road (Forest Ave, Long St., etc. - not including the T-section which is not bad at all)

Theres a few Rustic Acres out there
Miller Place and Yaphank come to mind.
Theyre nice.Like Strathmore with more land and basements.

Nice try. Go look at how the houses are kept. Look at the front yards, you tell me.
I just took a spin through there and I have to admit it isn't that bad. I may have been swayed by the two houses on Carmans that have cars partially parked on the lawn, one with a flat tire (probably been there for a while).
