People everywhere go to gyms/workout outside. Obesity is a problem in this country, no state is above it. There are a lot of healthy places to eat in California, but there are just as many if not more unhealthy places as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love Los Angeles, but don't make judgments about places you don't know.
Contrary to popular belief, people in outlying areas heck EVEN those backward rural areas go on with life in the winter. They walk to school, or bus stops, they have recess (kids are not forced indoors all winter long) and they even *recreate* outdoors -- yeah, on purpose!

I would rather die than live there. Nothing to me can be more depressing than a boring, quiet life in the Midwest.
kind of ironic but most Californians probably "learned" about the midwest through movies and tv...

sigh.

At tleast you are honest about why you like Los Angeles even if it seems like a pretty shallow reason for loving someplace. BTW, I still have a gut feeling you have never visited Chicago or NYC. Originally you said you would never even want to visit the mid=west, then you said later, you wouldn't want to live there...

I have never been to NYC or Chicago but I have been to Amsterdam, London and Paris. It's true; I would never want to visit the Midwest and would never want to live there. I KNOW that Chicago is a big city, similar to downtown L.A; extremely urban; lots of skyscrapers, tons of tall buildings. I get that it is a busy, bustling, modern city. One of the biggest cities in the U.S.

I specifically like Hollywood for the acting/celebrity thing even though I KNOW that Chicago is also known for acting. I just like Hollywood.

I like Hollywood and I like palm trees. I bet Chicago doesn't have palm trees.

I find Hollywood magical and more glamorous. I know for a fact that Chicago OVERALL AS A WHOLE is more down to earth. The Midwest in general is more down to earth and more "homey", more geared towards family and "family values" and that sort of thing. I don't ever want a family and to be honest I don't like that "down to earth" vibe.

I like the "fleetingness" of L.A ; you can be a star one day and spit out the next and forgotten. I also like the fact that everyone comes here to "make it" but many never do. It's a ruthless city that spits people out but for some reason I find that a little bit exciting; it's like Russian Roulette. The odds are against you and I actually like that. L.A is like a living in a dream... a misty hazy dream.

LA is like playing “Russian Roulette” with a semi-auto… predictable, but in a good way.

I made that mistake. I left LA and moved to Chicago for a career move. BIG mistake. Don't get me wrong, Chicago is a very nice city. Lots to do. Beautifull downtown and fine shopping and dining. But it is no LA. The flamboyance of LA is addictive. The setting is seductive. The beach culture has a charm all of it own. A drive up PCH to Malibu is like Heaven on earth (if you don't get stuck in traffic). When LA is Bad, it's really bad, but when it's good, it's like a high all it's own. Can you tell I love this City?
