There's a street in L.A. lined with signs like that.

Fly into LAX from a city back east. When you are getting ready to land, you really understand the term concrete jungle. Well if you have a window seat, that is. To me it feels bigger than greater NYC. Not in the verticle sense but just super packed and developed. Seems like most of the open space is on barren hillsides and what not.

I remember the first time I flew into LAX I noticed that too. Over an hour of seeing lights, whether urban/suburban, was impressive to me.

I thought LAX was a lousy airport, but flying in at night is awesome. I'm also flying in at night this time.

The view into NYC (LaGuardia) is jaw dropping, but there's something about LA and the endless lights that make for a great view. You don't need a towering skyline for that.

True, but you can't see that on the ground.

This is more amazing imo:

But for that in LA I'd have to live in downtown. But ironically I admire the old buildings more than the sky scrapers in L.A. I guess mainly because downtown kind of tricks newcomers. They see the skyline and think it's a bunch of buildings detached from each other. When you get in, you see streets lined with old buildings you didn't know were there.

NY is full of old buildings with ladders on the side, doesn't look too appealing at all.

I love the mix of different buildings in Manhattan. Some are very ornate.

True, i like LA architecture, but the thing that weirds me out is a line of detached apartment buildings. I think if they were built side by side, it would give the city a larger feeling while your on street level. But too late for that. But still you get some good density.

Chicano, I just drove down a street in DTLA I beliece it was Figueroa. It was before you get to LA Live and Wilshire. It was an amazing sight that looked straight out of NYC. The spotlights near Staples and LA Live just made it look very Times Sq like.
