I don't understand the in-n-out hype either. I'd heard rumors about how great it supposedly was and finally got a chance to try it on my last visit to California. It was a disappointment to say the least.

It was ... um ... better than McDonalds or Burger King. So I guess they have that unremarkable feather in their cap. However, compared to so many other similar burger joints - from Five Guys, Steak-n-Shake, Fatburger, Fuddruckers, even Wendy's - it's not even noteworthy. There are plenty of places that use fresh beef, lettuce, and tomatoes. It doesn't even begin to justify the hype.

Of course, I suppose there are worse local fast-food traditions. At least it's not Poutine or Cincinnati Chili. But regardless, in-n-out is definitely NOT worthy of its cult status.

The build your own topping bar is great but overall the quality of the Fuddruckers I think has gone down hill as the prices have gone uphill. We didn't eat at the one in ABQ, but have eaten at a couple in the Dallas area somewhat recently.

Joe, like so many you are comparing apples and oranges: it has to do with a couple of things: the number one is value for the buck. Fatburger and Five guys are 2 to 3 times more, so is Fuddruckers. As for Steak-n-shake, most I have seen or did see are gone..my opinion and food is strictly opinion, they were the worst burger created for the money...I have always said, if In N Out were $4 or $5 I would agree, what is the deal, but where can you get a burger, made from scratch, all fresh ingrediants for under $2.00?

Fuddrucker's: Close by, but 10 bucks for a burger meal?
Five Guys: 50 miles away
Steak-n-Shake: Never heard of them

In-N-Out: 2.9 miles away. Affordable. Delicious.

Wonder where I'm going?

Yes. Love their fries but not their burgers. They never cook them how I like it( Well done). Even when I ask. There are always pink in the middle of the burger. Sonic has much better food.

i think in-n-out burger sucks. i dont agree that it tastes like a mcdonalds burger, but it always reminded me of cafeteria food. i havent eaten there in years. id rather have jack in the box or carls jr.

The last time I ate a Sonic burger was years ago. Having just gotten a sonic in Duarte I thought I'd try it out. By the time I was finishing my burger I felt a bit nauseous. And a double meal was over $7.00 and nowhere near as good as INO. The burger tasted like it had been sitting in a warming oven for days.
