I liked Steak and shake too....we have them in GA. Never tired that Frisco melt though.

I do think In-n-Out is about as good as it gets when it comes to fast food chain burgers in America.

The double-double with extra onions is absolutely delicious. Especially with a strawberry shake. The fries are boring but I don't like American fries in general (give me European-style with mayonnaise any day ). You could try the "secret" animal fries that are not on the menu.

Perhaps you would like Carl's Jr.'s 6-Dollar Burgers better. They come with more unusual toppings such as jalapneos, mushrooms & Swiss cheese, guacamole and so on. They're also huge and pretty tasty. McDonald's is disgusting and BK is worse.

Animal fries = Fries with cheese, grilled onions and their secret sauce (the same sauce that goes on the burgers).

i think in-n-out burgers are okay, but not that great. and they're only good without that heavy sauce they slop onto the meat. when the sauce is included it overwhelms the tastes of the other parts of the burger.

I even tried Flying Dutchman (burger and cheese, no bun, no sauce, no toppings) and it was still average compared to other burgers. The patties are just too small, the lean meat loses its flavor after they cook it which is why they don't do well done, because it drops to a half dollar size. That's not sufficient.

I just had a double double from In N Out yesterday with a 2 additional requested packets of "secret sauce" (which they will give you if you ask from under the counter) to put on the fries. Get fresh not sauteed onions of course. To die for, had to skip dinner last night as was still too full. They be good!

I agree, I like to taste the meat more then the it being hidden my a bunch of sauce. Since I don't live in California, It has been quite a awhile since I have had a In-n-Out, but I did enjoy it.
