^I thought Cape Cod Todd was pretty clear in what he said, but I broke the sentence up so it will be easier for some folk to understand. My 1st grade teacher did it like that and it helped me with my reading. Maybe teachers in the Queens should give it a try...

There are so many people scamming now that honest folk are getting to be in the minority. I just want to know where to line up so I can get my share before the whole system goes over the cliff.

A joke is something spoken, written, or done with humorous intention. We learned about these in Kindergarten, but maybe I was in an accelerated class. One particular kind of joke is when one draws an unexpected conclusion from an ambiguously worded statement.

I broke the above the sentence up so you could see why it could be interpreted in a way that might be funny. Isn't it surprising that the President, the most powerful man in the world, not only buys his own drugs, he uses this very woman's EBT card to do so! How fantastically improbable!

But that is not how the sentence is worded, anyone who passed 3rd grade grammar will agree with me.

Humor? I'm just not finding it here. Maybe it's just me.

It's not how the sentence is intended and clearly everyone who finished the third grade could both glean the correct meaning from the sentence and realize that the President isn't using a woman's EBT card to buy drugs. That's why it's funny. You don't have to think that this is funny but you should at least be able to see why someone else might.

Here's a similar type of joke from a professional:

So I took my milk to the counter and said to the clerk, "Hi, how are you?" And she said, "Will that be all?" And so I said, "No, I'd like to buy this."

Anyone who passed third grade grammar would be able to identify your glaring comma splice.

I was making a joke. The post was ambiguous and it gave me the impression that the poster was saying that the president had bought drugs using his EBT card. I thought that she was bringing up the fact that Obama has admitted to using cocaine and marijuana in his past, and she was using hyperbole to say that he purchased it using welfare money. That type of comment isn't much of a stretch for some people as many of his opponents have called him the "food stamp president."

Here's what I want you to do:

1. Go down to your local book store.
2. Purchase a Henny Youngman book.
3. Read it.
4. Take a nap.
5. Repeat.

"That's all I have to say about that." Forrest Gump

Food stamp fraud has doubled since 2009. Taxpayers are on the hook, you know. Not a good thing for anyone.

If I paid a cover charge to see you guys stand up, I would become violently angry with that establishment!

Thankfully I don't do stand up. These weren't even my jokes. At least I could recognize wordplay as humor and not poor comprehension.

I'm guessing you've never read Oscar Wilde. Don't. You wouldn't like it.
