HI
We call heading off Cape "Going up to the World" and it sure is busy up there.. LOL
Hyannis is the biggest town/city and it has many of the big box stores like Home Depot, Kohls, Sears, Kmart, the Cape Cod Mall. Most towns have either a Stop and Shop or a Shaws super market. There is only one Walmart and that is in Falmouth.
I believe that anywhere is what you make it. Someone could get cabin fever in New York city. When I lived on Marthas Vineyard I enjoyed the cozy quaintness of it and viewed the ferry as a pain in the butt. I knew some folk that hadn't been off island in a year. If you need soemthing special there is always mail order.
Living on the Cape we can easily drive off and be up in the world. Boston is maybe 90 minutes away. I have family on the South Shore and when we go to visit them we often plan a stock up shop at the giant Walmart up there but overall if you can't get it on Cape you probably don't need it.

As for schools yes we have Montessori, Private, Charter, and Public. I don't have a link but you can do a search online.
You will just have to experience it all out when you come for your visit.

Great thanks! I just wanted to make sure the overall feel wasn't restless one, although I'm sure what one feels the other does. Like you said with NYC. I booked my flights today so I'll be doing my research from now till then!!
