I think this police video is kind of sad to be honest. It is catching someone in a horrible moment when their own life was compromised and now their whole character is being questioned based on the way they spoke and appeared in that moment. I've seen so many twitter comments about him saying, racist pig. There was not one thing mentioned by him about race or color, he said people. People thrive on videos like this.

Before you replied I actually edited the last line out. It's not relevant and many of us have been in situations where we talk trash. At least those of us who admit it. And I know what's is like to have people assume you are not intelligent because you have a Boston accent. It applies to any accent actually, and it's the ones who make the assumptions that aren't all that bright.

I actually read a comment on twitter where someone said about him, he sounds racist and hundreds of people liked the comment and agreed. I guess that's where we're at in the world. People can sound racist. Profile much? Many other people said things like oh all people from southie are racist, he sounds like he's from southie. He isnt.

This article came out yesterday as well:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/12/...ing-city-hall/

Doesn't seem to be getting much attention...The cop involved in the crash is black.

The Boston accent on a white male connotes racism by many people in different parts of the country. I think it stems in part from busing, and in part from movies. And yes, people from outside MA connect a thick Boston accent specifically to SB which is also stereoptypified as being generally racist. Again, some of this I would attribute to busing legacy. There is no doubt that there has been an element of racism in SB, but it is certainly not limited to SB nor is it generalizable to all residents.

Unfortunately a masters degree (no doubt city funded) doesn't teach you the negligible amount of discipline needed to keep your mouth shut in front of department issued cameras attached to your uniform. Hopefully the degree helps him find a new job after being terminated.

You’re right, there are a lot of highly educated idiots out there. I felt the need to throw his credentials in there based on the amount of jabs I saw throw at him on the internet implying he has a low IQ, no brain cells, etc. He has had a better education than the majority of people saying what a dumb pig he is on Twitter. As I said he didn’t know the camera was on and had just been under attack in his vehicle. I can’t even imagine the thought of body cameras were on his mind. Why wasn’t he wearing one? He shut up once the colleague told him this thing is on as we clearly see in the video. I probably would have been saying much worse than he was in the situation. Hell I might have started firing shots out the window if people attacked me in my car.

I also highly doubt he’ll be fired but I’ll wait. What would he be fired for? For saying he ran people over in the heat of the moment yet there’s been no reports of anyone who was hit? If he ever was fired he’d sue the city and get some type of settlement. He didn’t do anything wrong other than being caught on camera saying something in anger.

Exactly. That’s why his/her comment shows total ignorance to the reality of law enforcement staffing.

“We need an extra XXX street cops on the road tonight because it’s the Fourth of July. Unfortunately, every officer is maxed out on OT for the year sooooo good luck residents of Boston, you’re on your own!”

I don’t think they will. I heard it from his dad lol. Turns out they can’t fire someone for being angry with a thick Boston accent.
