What's the problem with families that make 120k?
I can understand more than 60k, but more than 200k is kind of steep.

West Medford still has a decent percentage of black professionals. In the not too distant past, it was a historic enclave of the black upper class...though it's no longer as cohesive.

Randolph's median household income is ~85k. It's not truly lower middle class. Id suspect the median family makes 100k+ THe black household income in Randolph is higher than the white household income.

You have to head to the new construction SFH areas, not the main drags. There are a lot of upper-middle-class black folks in these areas but they are not the dominant vibe. If you want to live in a black area you have to make some sacrifices. But you will find affluent black families there.

Brockton:

EDIT: If OP is looking for $200k+ black families (very rare) then it's gonna be Milton, Canton, Newton/Brookline, Cambridge

or the South End/Roxbury and Southern Dorchester

There isn't a problem with it. I am just looking for people similar to us and our annual income is in the 200k-300k range. I wanted to provide a number to clarify what I meant by "affluent."

I think a family that makes 120k with a kid doesn't have a very different lifestyle compared with a family with 2 kids that makes 200k. Maybe a slightly less fancy house and car, but they probably send their kids to similar places.

Yes I know a few of those neighborhoods over towards the Canton line, but like you said it's not the dominant vibe of the town. Some of those apartments along the main drags are legit rough, as are some on the outskirts (whatever that one off High St. is). Even some of the side streets off N Main are spotty.

I guess it's ok for Black people to be classist. Is it just me or does it seem snobby to be looking for a place to live with specifically Black people who make 200k-300k?

If it's okay for Whites, it's certainly okay for Blacks. It's also amusing seeing the usually snobbish Whites on this forum getting a taste of it from the Black community. That said, I'm no fan of classism, but I'm a big fan of leaving people to live their lives as they see fit.

I see plenty of people here looking for a community to spend 2 million on but it's another story to say you're looking for a community where there is a certain race of people who make over 200k.

I want my kids to see black professionals and understand that it's possible to achieve those goals. I don't want the only black professionals they see to be their parents. The income was an example of what I meant by affluent.
