Hmmmm, the forecast this morning at NECN looks worse... and about 24in for Newburyport - right at that line between 18-24 and 24+ incbes, and they're calling for blizzard conditions at the coast as well on Saturday with the high winds coming off the ocean.

The 06Z NAM run shows 36" of snow in Worcester and almost that much in the South Shore. Bands with 3" to 4" of liquid coming out of the sky and 10:1 snow to moisture ratio.

I didn't want to do it but I'm going to make sure the generator runs. It's a PITA to mothball it afterwards. I at least have 5 gallons of ethanol free gasoline I bought in Vermont in December.

I see no alcohol on that list. LOL

I prefer "Snowmaggedon"

Looks like a buttload of snow. I'm near the coast so should be a decent amount.

Just me and the 4-year old home alone this weekend. Everyone else away. I have to somehow manage taking care of the little guy while simultaneously snowblowing myself and my two elderly neighbors. Should be fun.

I did drive the car an hour for an errand to Derry (new snowthrower cover needed), which should have the car's starting batter well charged and I gassed it up too. I also gassed up the snowblower and started it to check that it started, while it's still warm-er today and ran that for 15 mins to charge the lithium EFI battery a little too. Cut back the roses (finally) along the drive so I can get past the car easily on both sides with the snowthrower.

Also picked up a few groceries, though I have no generator, and if there is an extended power outage - which looks reasonably likely, will leave the faucets on drip and abandon ship and hunt for a hotel room in a town with power. Usually the power is back on within an hour or two, but we have had power outages of 16+ hours during big winter storms when the power is out all over and the company develops an emergency service backlog.

I dug out the roof rake as well and have that on standby. I think this will be light-fluffy snow according to the forcast (10:1 ratio), but if we have some 40 degree days coming followed by freezing, i'll likely want to get ahead of that and clear my gutters while the snow is soft.

Snowblower gassed up and ready to go. Got a pile of firewood in case but extended power outages are rare in my neck of the woods.

This is not something I rarely say, but we headed up to the mountains of Western Maine to escape the snow. I want nothing to do with the city on Saturday (and probably Sunday). Good luck to everyone.
