$375K-$450K? Bah! Let's talk about going back to the really good old days called the 1990's when you could have gotten a decent home within the City of Boston for <$200K. The days when every Sunday, signs popped up on street after street announcing "Open House Today 1PM-3PM", the days when you could hear a lot more kids shooting hoops or playing street hockey in neighborhoods because there were more families here, or the days when the moment you mentioned you lived in Dorchester to a suburbanite, they'd reply with a "Oh my gosh! You'll get shot one day over there" to which you'd counter-reply with a chuckle. No those good old days aren't coming back unless Boston becomes a post-apocalyptic hellhole again, and we don't ever want to wish that. $700K is the new $100K these days.

Yeah but what was the population back in the 80s? There were hardly any cars on the road compared to now. Wasn't Burlington still a farm town back then?

No 495 is considered metro west. When people hear Boston they think urban city or crowded suburbs with no land to build anymore homes. When you go past 95 there are acres and acres of fields and trees, so much land. The zip code is 508 out there which is central MA.

If it's not 781/617 area code then it's not Boston.

Metro Boston population hasn’t grown much since 1990. And Burlington has been in the 20,000-s since 1980. You have no idea what traffic was like prior to the Ted Williams tunnel and the Big Dig.

Burlington's growth was in the 1950's and 60's:

1950 - 3,250
1955 - 5,225
1960 - 12,852
1965 - 19,743.

It's been mid 20's since I moved here in 1994 and is around 27K now.

I remember the retail and office parks although we never went into the actual town - as a teenager in the 80's we would drive there from Nashua on weekends- skateboard the empty office parks, cruise the mall, and loiter at Newbury Comics.
Traffic along there has always sucked.
