Spent a couple of days on Straits Lake last week.....part of a small chain of lakes in the U P. Some black flies but perfect weather! Yes there was an eagles nest on the island.

The road past Whitefish Cemetery is a great drive. Did you follow it all the way to Vermillion on Wildcat Rd.?
Wildcat runs all along the shore of Lake Superior with miles and miles of great beach to camp on.

A not so great picture of the Local First Street Party in downtown Grand Rapids yesterday, at sunset. Great time, great weather, great music, great Founder's Beer!

Went to the Lake yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see how much higher the lake level is this year over last year.

A little color in the dunes as well

Sometimes I wounder about my boys. They swam for almost an hour before I couldn't take it any longer and called them out. Complain the whole time back to the house that it was "warm, like bath water warm!" Guess I can shut off the hot water to their bathroom if they thought Lake Michigan was warm yesterday. Felt pretty darn cool to me (but not as cold as I was expecting)

Going back this afternoon, but to a different spot. One that has a bigger beach, and not a drop right from the dunes into the water. Dad likes to sit in the sun on the warm sand you know .

My girls are the same way. Torch Lake can be only 60 degrees and they'll swim in it for hours until they turn blue, and still won't want to come out.

Here is the chart for water temps yesterday. We usually go about 1/2 way between Ludington and Big Sable Point.

Ouch, that's pain! My bones are too old for those kinds of temps.
