The Gophers go to Bowl Games all the time.

The Gophers played in their prior stadium for 54 years - if the Vikings get a new stadium, how long before they ask for another? The paint was barely dry on the dome before the Vikings were grumbling about a new stadium. The Gophers were essentially forced out of Memorial Stadium, as it needed renovation (which would have been relatively cheap), but there was going to be no help because the state wanted the Gophers to be a revenue stream for the Vikings. Had Memorial Stadium been renovated, they would still be playing there today, and for many decades to come.

QuantumIguana was talking about Memorial Stadium and the Gophers, not the Met. Memorial Stadium wasn't actually that bad.

I couldn't agree more about the dome being a cookie-cutter quick fix stadium. They went the cheap route but by today's standards it's an unsatisfactory facility to host an NFL team.

Minnesota has budget issues so I understand if they lose the vikings, I'm just saying it's more likely to happen that they pick up and move than people realize.

Well I think that would be an atrocity and some teams should be "legacied" to their cities at a certain point because they become part of the local culture. I say the Vikes fit that mold. It'd be really sad if the NFL did to the Vikes what they did to the Browns AGAIN, just for a short term fix. We all know LA doesn't give two $hits about NFL football, and never will. Why they want (and get!) TWO teams is unbelievable to me!!

I am caught up. I am confused about why you were talking about LA wanting (and getting!) TWO teams... I understood that to refer to two NFL teams, in the context in which you were speaking. So I am confused because LA does not currently have any NFL teams, so if the Vikings went to LA, it would only be one NFL team in LA.
