Johnny Mnemonic - it was released when I was living abroad, and never made it to that country so this was the first time seeing it. Same reason I only watched Point Break for the first time this past summer - didn't make it to the country I was living in at the time it was released. Point Break (1991) was better, but Mnemonic was interesting too. JM didn't age well - released in 1995, it was set in a future year that happened to be 2021. The technology used in this attempted-to-be futuristic movie was kind of cringe-y, especially when they mentioned a fax. The airport body scanner was surprisingly prescient, though!

A Dark Place with Andrew Scott
Great performance by Scott who plays a small town sanitation truck driver who is on the spectrum
A young boy on his garbage route is found drowned in creek and he becomes obsessed with knowing why/how he died
Lots of location shooting (in GA) and other aspects give it realistic, compelling atmosphere

A Few Dollars for Django

A decent Western, perhaps spun too fast at times on the reel and a little difficult to follow to who is who since so many of them are barrel chest, well dresses, and bearded. A 6.7.

Match Light-Scarlett Johansson and that guy who played Henry VIII in Tudor:
He married into a wealthy family but obsessed with SJ,she got pregnant and wanted to keep the child.
So he planned a murder scheme-killed and robbed her neighbor ,when she came home, shot her in the stairway, making it looks like robber killed and robbed an old lady neighbor and killed her when she returned.
She left behind a diary ,the police called him in for investigation

When it comes to "Sandals" tyrants, the top best are probably Jay Robinson and then, Sergio Fantoni.....and the latter is especially saucy in this flick. Not too much on the torture (rather thought someone was going to end up in the Iron Maiden) nor on the sex, but that's classical Sandals movie where not only do the boys wear as short as skirts as the girls but the boys wear far less! A decent gate away, 5.6.

I think you meant Match Point, not Match Light.

I liked that movie and thought that Woody Allen's movies have started to be worth watching once again. out.

Pump Up the Volume.

The high-school-misfit is a theme that could be used in many eras,
but this movie goes back to 1990. So, the kids are trading cassette tapes
(perhaps some of today's high schoolers wouldn't even know what a cassette tape is),
and nobody has a cell phone. The word "text" would've meant one of the school books
you were issued at the start of classes. (and even though I graduated in the 1970s,
that world didn't look much different from mine).

Those were the days, hmm?

The Spook Who Sat By The Door
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070726/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_1

I don't know why I had such high hopes for this movie. Maybe it was the cover art or the hilarity of such a title (Spook, especially in the Commonwealth, is a term for spy), or that it was another serious non 007 flick of the 60s. As it turned out, though, it really was quite boring, even The Doll Squad was more exciting. The movie was very routine with hardly any excitement before the first hour was up. It does have a very racist tone to it and given the turbulent late 60s, an ominous warning......if it was seen back then. Say a 5.6.

The book was quite good. Greenlee also wrote the screenplay. In the US, spook meant something quite different.

Watched "Elysium" last night. Its a sci-fi dystopian film set in the year 2154. Entertaining watch.

Matt Damon and Jodie Foster star.
